Sandra reports good attendance at the movie night, and the members present were kept busy looking after those attending. The takings from the gate was $723 and the kiosk $221.90. The BBQ was also well supported with takings on the night of $1,615.90. During the pack-up we had a surprise visit from two past members in Gary & Hank McLay, it was great to see their smiling faces and have a chat. With lots of volunteers in attendance, Ian Watson found time to send his drone into the air and take the following great photo of the upper market area. The quality of the lens on the drone was quite impressive, as the cropped & zoomed pic shows .jpg) | Chris and Janey Preston were at the Meals on Wheels venue on Tuesday, they got a look at the Tasty Plate trailer while it was being cleaned. Janey and I think this organisation and trailer would be a great opportunity for a vocational visit, what do you think? |
Glenn has been busy with the roster for the homeless program, this Sunday was the first of our ongoing inter-club partnership with the Rotary Club of Warrnambool. Glenn will be circulating a 5-week roster at this week’s meeting, from this week we only require one male and one female from Daybreak to join those from Warrnambool. This Wednesday (Jan 9th) will be our first club meeting of the calendar year, I look forward to catching up with you at the Mid-City. It’s was a bit early to confirm a guest speaker at this time of the year, so Glenn and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to review the beginning of our Market, Movie, and BBQ season. This will be an open forum where all feedback is valued and open for discussion. An interesting article from “Rotary Weekly” - following the monthly theme of Vocational Service. Two decades of service beyond borders “When Rajendra Saboo finished his term as president of Rotary International in 1992, he started thinking about how he could continue to help people. By 1998, after serving as Rotary Foundation trustee chair, he knew he wanted to do something hands-on. He and a fellow Rotarian who is a pathologist and past district governor organized the first of many medical missions to perform corrective surgery on patients with polio in Uganda.
