President's Chat
Liza's Chat 10
Hello Daybreak Members and welcome to Bulletin 10

This week we joined the Rotary Club of Warrnambool for their Annual Father’s Day Award.  Fourteen Daybreakers were in attendance for the breakfast meeting which was a really good turnout.

What a great Community event it is, sponsored by Brophy, 3YB/Coast FM, Bunnings and South West Credit and supported by many schools in the district.  It was lovely and at times humorous to hear the children’s statements about their fathers.  The overall winner of this year’s award was Jayce Dufty nominated by his daughter Grace.  The family receives a weekend accommodation package with free entry into the Aquarium and other attractions.  The various winners also received cash amounts and accounts from South West Credit.

Next week’s meeting will see us in the month of September and back at The Lady Bay Resort for our Breakfast meeting.  September is Basic Education and Literacy Month on the Rotary Calendar. Our guest speaker will be Shaun Miller from WCC speaking on National Hydrogen Strategy with Mariettas Sweden.

ROTARY NEWS

District Interplast Committee Position - A Rotarian from the Warrnambool area is needed for the District Interplast Committee. The position does not require a great deal of work.  Basically the person will reply to messages from the Committee, Organize a speaker from the Committee if required by District Clubs, circulate information to Clubs and assist with the raffle which is held every two years.  Interested members can contact Brian Trenery bjtrenery@bigpond.com or Ph: 0417 301 796.

Polio Update – As of August 21 it has been three years since any polio has been reported in Nigeria.  Part of the fight against polio is creating awareness for polio eradication and advocating with governments to establish other basic health needs in communities.  After Africa is certified polio free later next year, there will be five out of six World Health Organizations free of polio.  World Polio Day is October 24 and Rotary International is calling on all members to maintain momentum and raise more awareness of the cause.

District Grants – A list of 2019-20 District Grants was recently published in the District Newsletter and it was pleasing to see Warrnambool Clubs listed.  The Rotary Clubs of Warrnambool and Daybreak were each listed for grants for the Pumps and DIK for Schools Geelong/Warrnambool Clubs, and the Rotary Club of Warrnambool Central to provide specialised playground equipment for the disability sector.  In total the Grants scheme distributed $99,626 to projects throughout the 9780 District.

Australian Rotary Health – October 10 is World Mental Health Day and Australian Rotary Heath will be raising awareness throughout the whole of October with a couple of projects.  They will be celebrating Hat Day on October 10 and for more information on this fundraiser and how to get involved visit www.hatday.com.au  The other event is the Bunnings/Lift the Lid weekend on October 5-6 in which daybreak will be participating with some other Clubs within the District – RCW, RCW East, RCPF.  Chris and Janey are organising the particulars of the event such as roster and will be liaising with the other Clubs participating.

World Peace Conference – If you are travelling over the January period you may want to attend the World Peace Conference scheduled for January 17-18 at the Ontario Convention Centre, Ontario California.  For more information and how to register visit www.peaceconference2020.org

Birthday wishes go to Janey who celebrates her birthday on Sunday September 1, happy birthday Janey, we hope Chris has many surprises in store for you. You can report on ALL those gifts that Chris purchased at our next weekly meeting!

LAUGHTER, THE BEST MEDICINE

Stan has a petrol station in Medina and was trying to increase sales.
So he put up a sign that read “Free Sex With Every Fill-up”
Soon Kev pulled in, filled his tank and asked for his free sex – Stan told him to pick a number from 1 to 10.

If he guessed correctly, he would get his free sex – Kev guessed 8 and Van said “You were close. The number was 7. Sorry. No sex this time”
A week later, Kev along with his buddy Frank, pulled in for another fill-up

Again he asked for his free sex. Stan again asked him to guess the correct number. He guessed 2 this time. Van said “Sorry, it was 3. You were close, but no free sex this time”.

As they were driving away, Kev said to his buddy “I think that game is rigged, and he doesn’t really give away free sex”

Frank replied “No it is not rigged. My wife won twice last week “

A tough looking group of hairy bikers are riding when they see a girl about to jump off a bridge, so they stop.
The leader, a big burly man, gets off his bike and says, "What are you doing?"

"I'm going to commit suicide," she says.
While he doesn’t want to appear insensitive, he also doesn’t want to miss an opportunity, so he asks, "Well, before you jump, why don't you give me a kiss?"

She does, and it is a long, deep, lingering kiss.
After she's finished, the tough, hairy biker says, "Wow! That was the best kiss I’ve ever had! That's a real talent you’re wasting. You could be famous. Why are you committing suicide?"

"My parents don't like me dressing up like a girl…"

Two cab drivers met.

“Hey,” asked one, “why did you paint one side of Your cab red and the other side blue?”

“Well,” he responded, “when I get into an accident, you should see how all the witnesses contradict each other.”

A Canadian lumber camp advertises for a lumberjack. A skinny little guy shows up at the camp the next day carrying an axe.
The head lumberjack takes one look at the puny little guy and tells him to get lost.

"Give me a chance to show you what I can do," says the skinny guy.
"Okay, see that giant redwood over there?" says the head lumberjack. "Take your axe and cut it down."

The guy heads for the tree, and in five minutes he's knocking on the lumberjack's door. "I cut the tree down," says the guy.
The lumberjack can't believe his eyes and says, "Where did you learn to chop down trees like that?"

"In the Sahara Forest," says the puny man.
"You mean the Sahara Desert," says the lumberjack.

"Sure......That's what they call it now!"

A guy was sitting quietly reading his paper when his  wife walked up behind him and whacked him on the head with a magazine.

'What was that for?' he asked.
'That was for the piece of paper in your pants pocket with the name Laura Lou written on it,' she replied.

'Two weeks ago when I went to the races, Laura Lou was the name of  one of the horses I bet on,' he explained.

'Oh honey, I'm sorry,' she said. 'I should have known there was a  good explanation.'

Three days later he was watching the football on TV when she walked  up and hit him in the head again, this time with the iron  skillet, which knocked him out cold.
When he came to, he asked, 'What the hell was that for?'

 She replied.......'Your horse just phoned'
