PRESIDENT’S PEN : 5th & 12 August
The year is flying by!
We’ve had another very eventful and productive two weeks.
HiO Proposal – RCWE
The review of the Hole in One proposal from Rotary Club of Warrnambool East is now finalised. Our club has committed to:
filling a minimum of 40 roster positions;
· assisting with working bees where possible;
· providing five “shadow” representatives for the RCWE portfolio coordinators; and
· participating in a one-year trial, with a joint review at the end. In return, our club will receive $10,000.
We are now awaiting the portfolio position descriptions from RCWE. Once received, we’ll circulate them so members can nominate as a “shadow” representative if they wish. This will need to happen promptly so the roles can commence in line with each of the pre-summer portfolio tasks. A busy summer coming is up - remember we have also committed to 5 Summer Market BBQ's !
Re-Districting
Please read the emails regarding Re-Districting sent by District this past week from Paul Barrett and Tonie Thiel. Our club will soon be asked to vote on the matter. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Science Challenge
A huge thank you to everyone who helped with the Science Challenge this week. It was a fantastic—and tiring—2–3 days! It’s wonderful to know our volunteers helped local schools participate in a national event involving more than 25,000 students each year.
Membership
Thank you to Trish and Robyn for their interactive and entertaining Membership session this week. It was certainly enjoyed by all!
Social Events
We have a social evening planned for next Thursday at the Cally Hotel—hope to see you there! (refer to flyer in this newsletter)
We’ve also discussed a weekend social outing to the Harrow by Night Sound & Light Show, with dinner and the show costing $75 per person. Possible dates are Saturday 21 November or Saturday 5 December. As 21 November is already half booked and accommodation is unavailable, I suggest 5 December as the better option—and it could also double as a Christmas celebration!
I’m away until 22 September, but you will be in the excellent and very capable hands of Cheryl, Chris and Geoff. You’re also very welcome to email me if needed while I’m away.
