Thanks to Liza, Sandra, & Janey for the effort they have put into looking for another venue and also conducting the Venue Survey.
Our members clearly voted to change venues, continue to meet weekly and still remain a breakfast club. Great outcome and we will move forward into a new era and meeting location soon.
Daybreaks 25th Anniversary Dinner: This was held on July 29th the actual Charter date of Warrnambool Daybreak. The venue was the Warrnambool Football Netball Club in Cramer’s Bistro. 50 attendees which was a good turn out. We had 5 past Daybreakers attend, Our Charter President Chris Beks was with us and we welcomed back Past President of Daybreak and current 9780 District Governor Ian McKay along with his wife and past member of Warrnambool Daybreak, now past President of Mount Gambier Lakes Club Sherrill McKay, PP Max Taylor, Dianne Byron, also visitors from other clubs representing RC Warrnambool and RC Warrnambool East. The meal was excellent, and everyone certainly got into the spirit of the evening with plenty of chat and laughter.
I neglected to acknowledge the remaining Charter members who have continual service with Daybreak;
PP and PDG Andrew Suggett, Andrew joined Daybreak after 17.9 years with Rotary Club of Warrnambool. 41 years 9 months in Rotary.
PP Barry Brooker, Barry had 6 years with RC Warrnambool Central prior Daybreak. 31 years in Rotary now.
PP Chris Preston, had 6 years with RC Warrnambool Central prior Daybreak. 31 years in Rotary now.
PP Sergio Bacchetti, Now has 25 years Service.
PP Janey Preston, Now has 25 years Service.
With a break for a number of years then returned to Daybreak in 2019, Charter member also, PP Barry Moran.
DG Ian McKay presented Warrnambool Daybreak with a certificate commemorating our clubs 25 years of Service to Rotary International.
This is signed by current RI President Gordon McInally.
Our meeting at Tilly Devine worked out well. Plenty of chat and great food. Though some felt the serves were very generous.
8 Daybreakers attended the RSL for a dinner and to view the Australian Veterans Art Museum display. ‘PERSONA’ a contemporary veteran artists exhibition. We had a great night out together and enjoyed the art and photography along with a veteran comedian. This exhibition is made up from artwork which is created by veterans, it is to help veterans will their mental health and has proven to be very beneficial. With one of RI President Gordon McInally focuses being to support mental health, a donation to this will certainly tick that box for Daybreak.
