Hello Daybreakers,

We are rapidly approaching the end of the Rotary year with our changeover on 1st of July 2023 with our incoming President, Chris Preston, and his new Board.

As this will be my last President’s chat, I want to thank the club for the opportunity to serve as your President and guide you through the Rotary year with the Rotary focus in our Rotary calendar.

The main goals were Rotary focus for each month and the importance of being a Rotarian and the good that Rotary does locally and internationally.

The theme, ‘Let’s Imagine Rotary’, has certainly been an appropriate theme for my Presidency and in particular coming out the hiatus period with Covid interruptions and disruptions.

Post the Covid pandemic and emergency period, it has been important our club is well focused on being Rotarians and always service above self.

In my Annual Report I have summarised activities throughout the year and comprehensively as District had requested the President’s Annual Report for its Annual Reporting purposes.

We have always been a high achieving club and we are certainly batting above average with our members.

Years gone by there used to be a Presidential citation and most Past Presidents were aiming for the citation from District. We would have certainly ticked all the boxes. I have always been proud of our club and its achievements.

Accordingly, I wish to thank my Board and their commitment to our club. I want to specially thank and acknowledge Cheryl Bellman for her hard work and dedication as my Secretary. Cheryl certainly goes beyond the call of duty.

Finally, I congratulate Chris in taking over the reins to be President of our club. I wish him well for his year and the Board.

So, Let's Imagine Rotary and be proud to be a Rotarian!

Your President,

Sergio Bacchetti

Rotary's Wheel Emblem

A wheel has been the symbol of Rotary since our earliest days.

The first design was made by Chicago Rotarian Montague Bear, an engraver who drew a simple wagon wheel with
a few lines to show dust and motion. The wheel was said to illustrate “Civilization and Movement.” Most of the early clubs
had some form of wagon wheel on their publications and letterheads. Finally, in 1922, it was decided that all Rotary Clubs
should adopt a single design as the exclusive emblem of Rotarians. Thus, in 1923, the present gear wheel, with 24 cogs and
six spokes was adopted by the “Rotary International Association.” A group of engineers advised that the geared wheel was
mechanically unsound and would not work without a “keyway” in the center of the gear to attach it to a power shaft.

So, in 1923 the keyway was added and the design which we now know was formally adopted as the official Rotary International emblem.

LAUGHTER, THE BEST MEDICINE

One night this week I kept having one scary nightmare after another, waking my poor
husband each time. He had to go to work early in the morning and I could take no more,
so I tried to keep awake by drinking a hot chocolate.
Eventually I drifted off and apparently I woke him yet again when I called out loudly,”
I’m okay now, I have a monkey on my lap!”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My computer crashed and now all the other computers have slowed down
so they can see what's happening.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just before Thanksgiving, a lady went shopping for a turkey for the Harvest Feast.

She was rummaging around the frozen bird display looking for a turkey just the
*right* size. She’d pick up one, weight it in her hands and put it down, trying more
than a few birds.

She finally picked up one, and saw a stockboy coming down the aisle.
Holding the turkey up, she asked the fella “Do these get any bigger?”.

The stockboy looked at her and replied “No, Lady, they’re dead”.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A man, his wife, and his mother-in-law went on vacation to the Holy Land.
While they were there, the mother-in-law passed away. An undertaker told them
"You can have her shipped home for $5,000, or you can bury her here in the
Holy Land for $250." The man thought about it and told him he would just have
her shipped home.

The undertaker asked "Why? Why would you spend $5,000 to ship your mother-in-law
home, when it would be wonderful to have her buried here and only spend $250?"
The man said "A man died 2,000 years ago. He was buried here and days later,
he rose from the dead. I just can't take that chance.

No matter how far you push the envelope it will always be stationery.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Elderly folk like to drink wine but it causes them to go to the toilet frequently.
So this vigneron wanted to develop a wine that does not have this affect on
the elderly.
He crossed to varietal wines, Pinot grigio and pinot Noir and came up with
a new varietal called Pinot more.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This sandwich goes into a bar and orders a drink.
The bartender says "sorry we do not serve food here".

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A couple are lying in bed. The man says,

'I am going to make you the happiest woman in the world.'

The woman replies, 'I'll miss you...'

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My mate just hired an Eastern European cleaner.
It took her 5 hours to hoover the house.  Turns out she was a Slovak.

I’ve been charged with murder for killing a man with sandpaper.
To be honest I only intended to rough him up a bit.

Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw
a revolver at him?
