President's Chat
Steve's Chat 36
Hello Daybreakers,

We had a full house at this week’s meeting, with guests Tim Gregory and past founding member Barry Moran attending alongside our guest speakers. We heard from the Coordinator of the Clontarf Academy, Luke McInerney, who was ably supported by student’s Tory and Joel.

Luke updated those present on the national Clontarf Program and its present program in Warrnambool.  Joel and Tory spoke on how the academy had helped them to move forward academically and in their personal lives.  On Sunday March 3rd we have been asked to continue our support of the Clean Up Warrnambool (Australia) program, I am sure, when asked, the Clontarf boys will be more than happy to participate.

Max gave us a geography lesson with his where in the world session, prizes were awarded to the Daybreak brains trust in Janey, Gerard and Ian Harper.

Chris Preston updated us on the Bunnings version of the Chinese whisper when he went through the list of information not passed on, and we all had a bit of a chuckle about what rules we had forgotten

Friday Saturday and Sunday saw more than 12 members, partners and children travel to Portland to assist Serge with his passion for fishing.  What happened during this trip will be talked about for some time to come and perhaps the tales told won’t have anything to do about the size of the fish that had gotten away.  Perhaps a couple of different pictures will tell another story at next week’s meeting.

On Sunday 2 Daybreak Members, Andrew & Jenny, along with 2 members From RC of Warrnambool, Bunny Hinchcliff & Gerry Russell,  volunteered at the Daybreak Care Program.  This will be the last week we run the program from the F Project Site.  Next week we will be returning to  Surfside 2.

At next week’s meeting our guest speaker will be the CEO of Emma House, Ruth Isbel.  Many of you would be aware that Emma House provides counselling, support and advocacy to women and children who have experienced or are experiencing domestic and family violence.  I look forward to another full house this week to show our ongoing support of this important local advocacy organisation.

The sponsor club is Rotary Club of Townsville South West District 9550. The RAWCS chair for District 9550 is PDG Robert Tardiani.  Mob. 0408 874 204.

LAUGHTER, THE BEST MEDICINE

A mind reader is at a nightclub one night and decides to give a small demonstration of her abilities.

First, she reads the mind of the lead guitarist: “Wow, look at all the cute chicks who showed up tonight!  Good show”

Then the drummer: “Lots of people showed up tonight … Great, we’re going to make some good money tonight.”

Then the keyboard player: “All three of these guys have no appreciation of my talent … what a bunch of losers”

Finally, the bass player: “C …G … C … G…”

(My bass playing brother wasn’t amused, the other band members are still laughing.)

A cop pulls over a carload of nuns.

Cop: "Sister, this is a 65 MPH highway -- why are you going so slow?"

Sister: "Sir, I saw a lot of signs that said 22, not 65."

Cop: "Oh sister, that's not the speed limit, that's the name of the highway you're on!

Sister: Oh! Silly me! Thanks for letting me know. I'll be more careful.

At this point the cop looks in the backseat where the other nuns are shaking and trembling.

Cop: Excuse me, Sister, what's wrong with your friends back there? They're shaking something terrible.

Sister: Oh, we just got off of highway 119.

A young boy was looking through the family album and asked his mother: "Who's this guy on the beach with you with all the muscles and curly hair?"

"That's your father."

"Then who's that old bald-headed fat man who lives with us now?"

---------------------------------------

It was time for the final and the student depending upon getting at least one right answer on the chemistry test.

The question was "If H2O is water, what is H2O4?"

This was a quick question for most, but it took the student some thinking time.

Finally, he wrote down his answer: For drinking, washing, cleaning...

Pauly walks into a bar and says "Bartender, one round for everyone, on me!" The bartender says, "Well, Pauly, seems you're in a really good mood tonight, eh?"

Pauly says, "Oh, you can bet on it! I just got hired by the city to go around and remove all the money from parking meters. I start on Monday!"

The bartender congratulates the man and proceeds to pour the round.

Monday evening arrives. Pauly comes back into the bar and says "Bartender, TWO rounds for everyone, on me!"

The bartender says, "Well now! If you're so happy just over having this new job, I can just imagine how happy you'll be when you get your paycheck!"

Pauly looks at the bartender with a confused look on his face, pulls out quite a handful of quarters from his pocket, and says "You mean they'll PAY me on top of it?"
