Our club was chartered on 29th July 1998. In Lydia’s Presidential year we became a Centurian Club, with each member donating $100 per year towards the Foundation. This was done by adding $2 to the weekly cost of the meal and the accumulation of funds was managed by the treasurer. We were then to see a video clip on the Foundation but alas, technology as not on our side. First. There was some random woman with nothing to do with the Foundation. Thenthe Rotary at Work clip came up but it was not actgually what Sergio had intended to show us. So…… We will hold over the clip to another meeting. Meals on Wheels Reminder to those who have their name down that Meals on Wheels is back on after the lockdown. Shelterbox Cheryl read out a letter that we received from Shelterbox with an update of where they are at. Current travel restrictions are making their work more challenging, however they are committed to providing vulnerable families with a place to call home throughout this Coronavirus outbreak. Their partners in Syria, Cameroon, Somaliland and Ethiopia are getting emergency shelter to people who need it, whilst implementing the social distancing rules. There is still a massive need for humanitarian support. Coronavirus has made that need even more urgent. Quiz Sandra’s quiz was, again, the highlight of the meeting. Question responses were shared amongst the members. Backyard Blitz This had to be re-scheduled for 19th June. Barry has done a pre-visit to ascertain the needs. Barry and Peter will pick up equipment the day before and meet everyone there at 9am. Care Program There will be a meeting with Anglicare and WCC to discuss the program resuming Fines Only one this week. Who didn’t stop at the red light on the Banyon Street roundabout at the top of the cutting? Brags Fiona has a new niece. Born this morning. As yet unnamed. Rotary Friendship Exchange - visits by groups of Rotarians, usually to another country Rotary Peace Fellowship - provides scholarships for people working to promote peace through various international projects Rotary Youth Exchange - international exchange for year 10/11 students RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Award – 5-day leadership camp aimed at 18-25 yr olds RYPEN - Rotary Youth Program for Enrichment - weekend camp for 14-17 yr olds Shelter Box - Provides emergency shelter and tools for families who lose their homes in disasters Themes – each year, the Rotary International President chooses a theme for that year. 20-21 – Rotary Opens Opportunities 21-22 Serve to Change Lives TRF – The Rotary Foundation is Rotary’s own Charity. Funds are used for ‘doing good in the world’ including ending polio and redistribution to Districts for clubs to use as District Grants
