At this month’s Board meeting the following resolutions were passed: - Continue to set aside allocations for the Lookout program until required
- Hold initial funds set aside for the Special Development School pending further allocations
- Continue to support Parkinsons walk
- Allocate the following funds leading up to our May-June Allocations
- Soup Kitchen - $500
- Coast Guard - $500
- Kalay Academy – $500 (proceeds from cup)
- To be reviewed after program resumes in February
- Insulin for Life Program - $1000
- Allocate funds from the Specsavers Community account
- Warrnambool Wolves community football Club $2000
Further discussions took place on local charities/organisations that may be supported with funds from the market season and Long Lunch Event. It was noted that the long lunch committee look at supporting the current needs of Southwest Healthcare, Special Development school and the Lookout Program. The weather was on the warmer side for this Friday’s market and movie. Unfortunately, Andrew and I had to pull out due injury and ill health on top of that Ian Watson was also unwell.. After a hard start for the BBQ setup crew the next shifts arrived to lessen the load. Thanks to all that were able to attend. Sandra reports a great night at the last of the movies, and the members present were kept busy looking after those attending. The takings from the gate were $840.70 and the kiosk $306.60. The BBQ was also well supported with takings on the night of $1,655.05. Janey and Chris sent through some photographs during the night to make sure I didn’t have withdrawal symptoms. Chris thought Harpo was busy constructing his version of Stonehenge out of burgers. While Ian W and Max cooked the snags, Mel took care of everyone’s favourite job, cooking the onions. At the time the following pics were sent Jan, Sue and Gerard kept things ticking along out front.  Urgent call for assistance for host family – 4 Nights this week. We have been contacted by Phillip Ritchie from RC of Warrnambool Central. Next week 10 inbound students will be arriving in Warrnambool. They require host families for four nights. Eight have been placed so there are two boys that require billeting. The Boys are from Austria and Germany. The boys are occupied each day with activities, so really just require B&B most days. If you are able to assist, please give me a call or contact Phillip direct on 0407 859 187 In the leadup to the District Conference in Maryborough, I started looking for projects that our District Governor Anthony Ohlsen’s club are involved in. It didn’t take long to find a signature project of the club, and how it is assisting many in the wider community. More than one approach “The Rotary Club of Maryborough, Victoria, Australia, is changing attitudes about domestic violence and generating positive community response with its multifaceted approach.
