… President Preston’s Prattle …

Welcome Daybreakers,

Change over July 1st: Well, what a great day was had.

I thank everyone that turned up for Daybreaks changeover on Saturday, in total we had 49 attendees.

District Governor Ian McKay and his wife Sherril, both past members of Warrnambool Daybreak joined us. I must say that as soon as I had made up my mind last year to stand up and be President of Daybreak again, I did contact Ian McKay and booked him in. Representatives from clubs in attendance from RC Warrnambool, Warrnambool East, Cobden, Portland, Port Fairy, Inner Wheel and Probus. I believe it worked by not having a formal evening dinner changeover, and I must say, I was impressed how attendees stayed on to talk, catch up and enjoy each other’s company. It was a great afternoon.

Thank you everyone.

I will repeat myself and thank Sergio for his year of leadership. It was a wonderful year, Daybreak does a great job really. We certainly cover the required areas of focus as well as raising and distributing funds across all 3 regions being, local, national and international. With my 4 changeovers that I attended in this last week, Daybreak is certainly in the mix with the other clubs and holding our own.

We have moved into the new Rotary year, and I am looking for ideas from the members in general, for us to not only do the required Rotary things, but to make sure we are having fun doing it, I would like social days, nights, or evenings to be sprinkled throughout the year ahead. This will give us something to look forward to and help build stronger friendships within our Daybreak family.

Daybreaks 25th Anniversary will kick this off, SATURDAY July 29th.

I have booked Cramer’s Bistro ( where we meet & have Breakfast ).

The meals will be ordered from the regular menu.

If we can get 70 attendees, they will give us exclusive use of the room, so please try to attend with partners, and the 70 should be doable.

Invites are being sent out now to past members, if you still have contact with any past member, please encourage them to come along for this celebration.

So let’s get ready with this years theme to, Create Hope In The World.

Your President,
Chris Preston

LAUGHTER, THE BEST MEDICINE

My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60.
Now he's 97 years old and we have no idea where he is!

I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

The only reason I would take up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

I have to walk early in the morning before my brain figures out what I'm doing.

I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks and I haven't lost a pound.
Apparently, you have to show up.

The advantage of exercising every day is that when you die, they'll say,
'Wow, he looks good doesn't he.'

If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country.

I know I got a lot of exercise the last few years just getting over the hill.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I was in Amsterdam I went to a bar and I saw Van Gogh having a quiet drink.
I went up to him and said “Are you Van Gogh?”
He said ”I am”. I said “Can I buy you a drink?”
He said “no thanks, I’ve got one ‘ere.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The board of a company needed to replace the CEO and had 3 candidates.
They were the sales manager, an engineer and an accountant.

The board decided to ask each of them a simple question and depending on the
answer one of them will get the job.

They called in the sales manager and asked him what 2+2 were.
The sales manager said I know that 2+2 are 4 but with some marketing and advertising
I say that 2+2 are 7.

Next came the engineer and asked him the same question.
He said I know that 2+2 are 4 but you know how the sales dept over estimates
so I say that 2+2 are 3.999857456.

The accountant came in and they asked him the same question what 2+2 were.
He said I know that 2+2 are 4, but what would you like them to be?
