What an inspirational program and project. It was born from the Leadership South Coast Program in 2020. It was a project by candidates who participated in the leadership program. You may recall my President's Chat on 23 November 2022 highlighting this leadership program being conducted in Warrnambool. Our attendance at Shed 2 at 1/12 Cooper Street Warrnambool was received with a very warm welcome by the executive officer Jaimee Millar. She explained the project itself, the processing of various items for 0-5 years old including cots, bassinets, clothing and all sorts of toys. With only four months in her role as Executive Officer and the establishment of a well-supported Board with Felicity Melican as the Chair Person, Loved and Shared will be well supported by our community. It has achieved funding through philanthropic trusts and some minimal support by Government grants. It operates on sustainability to recycle and provides for members of our community who have needs, through circumstances beyond their control, and to reduce landfill with parents disposing of baby wears and other items at the local tip. Jaimee made the point it is not a dumping ground for unused items or disused items and a rigorous program of ensuring quality is necessary to ensure mothers and fathers receive an appropriate gift in their time of need. As a charitable organization they liaise with the various agencies for their direct contact with clients. They are effectively suppliers to the agencies who manage the needs of these clients and place orders or make requests for the packages. The flyers presented by Love and Shared states, "We are looking for passionate and dedicated volunteers to join our team and help make a positive social and environmental impact across our region… caring community and thriving children and healthy planet." The emblem of a heart on a hand depicts Loved and Shared. We congratulate Jaimee and as stated our club will certainly provide support where we can and perhaps some members may be inclined to be some of the volunteers. For the first 12 months they are endeavoring to provide 300 packages made through recycling. The concept of appointments booked online for delivery of items to be provided to the organization and ensure that people do not dump disused items willy-nilly is a great idea and well thought. The whole system, with rigorous inspections by various sections within the premises, demonstrates a lot of planning and consideration including OH&S.
