President's Chat
Bulletin 23
This week we welcomed members of Daybreak to our very first meeting after the Christmas break and a new year.
President Peter, welcomed all members, guest Fiona Steenhuis and his partner Evonne back to the Lady Bay.
With all our Summer BBQ's and Movies In the Park fundraisers canceled, there wasn't a lot of Rotary business to discuss so we enjoyed some fellowship over breakfast.  It was announced that Fiona Steenhuis would be inducted at our next meeting so please make an effort to attend for this occasion if you can.

Another surprise was the presentation of a Paul Harris Fellowship sapphire pin to Alison Dennis for her contribution to the Rotary Foundation.

Paul Harris wrote: "Each Rotarian is a connecting link between the idealism of Rotary and their trade or profession". Vocational Service may be the least understood of the Rotary Avenues of Service, and yet it is the very foundation of Rotary itself. The introductory statement and three of the four objectives of Rotary relate to Vocational Service, underlining its importance to the philosophy and culture of Rotary.

Those objectives are:
* To encourage and foster high ethical standards in business and professions, to recognise the worthiness of all useful occupations, to dignify the Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society.
* To apply the ideal of service in personal, business and community life.
* To advance international understanding and goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of businessmen and professional men and women united in the ideal of service.

LAUGHTER, THE BEST MEDICINE

Cowboy and 5 Blondes Joke

So many coronavirus jokes out there, it’s a pundemic.

My husband purchased a world map and then gave me a dart and said, “Throw this and wherever it lands—that’s where I’m taking you when this pandemic ends.” Turns out, we’re spending two weeks behind the fridge.

What do you call panic-buying of sausage and cheese in Germany? The wurst-kase scenario.

Yeah, I have plans tonight. I’ll probably hit the living room around 8 or 9.

If there’s a baby boom nine months from now, what will happen in 2033? There will be a whole bunch of quarantees.
