Rotary International designates October as Economic and Community Development Month to highlight this crucial area of focus and inspire clubs to undertake projects that support sustainable economic growth and improve livelihoods. During this month, Rotarians work to reduce poverty and create lasting economic improvement by building capacity in entrepreneurs, developing job opportunities, supporting financial management skills, and investing in infrastructure and other resources within communities.
Goals of the Month:
To raise awareness about the importance of economic and community development.
To encourage Rotary clubs to focus on local and international projects in this area.
To showcase Rotary's commitment to creating tangible, long-term economic improvements and a better future for communities worldwide.

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation donate $2 for every $1 we raised and this is donated to the End Polio cause.
Foundation Director, Ann Barker has reported we made approx $6663.00 for End Polio. That is a great effort and thanks to the 110 attendees for helping us achieve this.
Parkinsons Walk - Sunday October 5th.
Past Daybreaker Andrew Suggett who battled Parkinsons for 26 years was the driving force behind this local Parkinson support group.
Daybreak have always backed Andrew with this free BBQ at the end of the walk behind the Pavilion kiosk. This will be the 2nd year since we lost Andrew, and again we fired up the bbq for participants.
BBBBBig shout out and thank you to 4 Daybreakers for helping out with this BBQ. Harpo, Glenn, Janey, Liz. Huge effort with only 4 people to set up the marquee and BBQs in the wind.

Victorian Seniors Card holders can access 8 days of free public transport across Victoria from 5 to 12 October 2025. Jump on public transport for free to visit attractions across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
I remember Bob and Katy Jeans took advantage of this every year and travelled across Victoria.

Early Loss Memorial Tree
Project co-ordinator Rotarian PP Janet Blackley from RC Warrnambool said. “It is a sign that no grief is too small to be acknowledged, and no child is ever forgotten.
The new memorial at Warrnambool Cemetery Trust’s Tooram Memorial Park, on Hopkins Point Road, will soon provide a dedicated space for families to remember babies lost before 20 weeks’ gestation.
The tree will hold up to 300 tokens in the form of leaves or butterflies. Each token will carry a message chosen by the parents, families, or loved ones who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, or early infant death.
All rotarians are invited to attend the community opening on Thursday October 16 at 2pm.
