President's Chat
Pres Chat 10/3
This week we welcomed 21 members of Daybreak to our weekly meeting.

Apologies from Peter Cassady, Liza McCosh, Leni Brockmuller, Steve Bellamy, Ellie Read, Andrew Suggett
In the absence of President Peter, Vice President Geoff, welcomed all members.

President Peter has taken Yvonne to Geelong to have testing done on her back. We hope all goes well.

Geoff extended our condolences to PP Liza on the passing of her father-in-law and our thoughts are with her and Wayne.

He queried if we had all seen the Tyrells winery flyer that was a ROMAC project.

ROMAC is the acronym for “Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children”
and is a combined Australia and New Zealand Multi-district Rotary project.

ROMAC has been in operation for over 30 years.

Rotarians volunteer their time and expertise to run this Rotary project that encompasses all the Districts of Australia and New Zealand. Assisted by many eminent Australian and New Zealand surgeons who generously donate their time for the treatment of our patients, this humanitarian program has provided life-giving surgery to over 500 children from more than 20 developing countries, with urgent medical treatment that was not available to them in their own country.

Members Announcements
Other local Rotary projects to look out for are the Warrnambool RC fashion parade and our own Bunnings BBQ on the 27th March. Harpo will have a roster out shortly.

Hope you all heard Glenn on the radio this week spruiking the Clean up Australia Day event. We will be doing our rubbish pick up on Sunday at Victoria Park. We will meet there with the Clontarf boys who will cover the Levi’s Beach area.
Cheryl, Ann, Jennie and Janey couldn’t be there on Sunday so they are off after the meeting to do a pick up along Illowa Rd then onto Harrington Rd.

Don’t forget Sunset drinks at Ali’s place. BYO drinks and nibbles to share.
20th March.

Sandra is off to the Standard after the meeting to hand over an article on our Long Lunch.

Due to the uncertainty of the covid situation and seating restrictions we will not be holding it this year, however, we need to remind people that even though it’s not happening in 2021 it will be back bigger and better in 2022.

She went on to talk about projects and that this is a timely opportunity to review all our projects and follow a simple few rules…..    What do we keep?  What can we do that is new?  and what do we drop?

PE Barry would like members to have a think about this for a brainstorming session that he wants to hold in the near future.

Jan Read ran the member’s choice activity.
Seven volunteers who are ,blindfolded.
They are all hanging on to a rope.
They have to form a perfect square with the rope.
Yeah.   Sure.   That’s gonna happen.  Wobbliest square I’ve ever seen.
Liked Bob’s idea…. “Let’s all sneak out while they are all blindfolded”

Quiz – Sandra presented the weekly quiz, with a number of people sharing the points. We should have known that Bob had been to Lake Titicaca. He’s been everywhere.

Fines. No fines this week, just hold on to them till next week

LAUGHTER, THE BEST MEDICINE

A young man saw an elderly couple sitting down to lunch. He noticed that they had ordered one meal and an extra drink cup. As he watched, the gentleman carefully divided the hamburger in half, then counted out the fries, one for him, one for her, until each had half of them.

Then he poured half of the soft drink into the extra cup and set that in front of his wife. The old man then began to eat, and his wife sat watching, with her hands folded in her lap. The young man decided to ask if they would allow him to purchase another meal for them so that they didn’t have to split theirs.

The old gentleman said: “Oh no. We’ve been married 50 years, and everything has always and will always be shared, 50/50.”

Touched by the beautiful display of love, the young man then asked the wife if she was going to eat. She shook her head kindly and replied: “It’s his turn with the teeth.”

Two bachelors sat talking, their conversation drifted from politics to cooking.

"I got a cookbook once," said one, "but I could never do anything with it."

"Too much fancy work in it, eh?" asked the other.

"You said it. Every one of the recipes began the same way -- "Take a clean dish..."

A big-city lawyer was representing the railroad in a lawsuit filed by an old rancher.
The rancher’s prize bull was missing from the section through which the railroad passed. The rancher only wanted to be paid the fair value of the bull.

The case was scheduled to be tried before the justice of the peace in the back room of the general store. The attorney for the railroad immediately cornered the rancher and tried to get him to settle out of court. The lawyer did his best selling job, and finally, the rancher agreed to take half of what he was asking.

After the rancher had signed the release and took the check, the young lawyer couldn’t resist gloating a little over his success, telling the rancher,
“You know, I hate to tell you this, old man, but I put one over on you in there. I couldn’t have won the case. The engineer was asleep and the fireman was in the caboose when the train went through your ranch that morning. I didn’t have one witness to put on the stand. I bluffed to you!”

The old rancher replied, “Well, I’ll tell you, young feller, I was a little worried about winning that case myself because that durned bull came home this morning.”

A man on his own from the Bush for Christmas walks into a barbershop in the lobby of a posh City hotel and asks for the works. He has a hair cut followed by hot towels and a very close shave with a cutthroat razor.

While this is happening a stunning woman kneels down and polishes his shoes.
He says to the woman, " You are so beautiful, how about you and I go back up to my expensive suite and spend the afternoon there?"

The woman says " My husband would not like that at all "
The man says " Well don't tell him!"
The woman says " You tell him, he is the person shaving you "

An old man dies, leaving behind two sons.
In his will, he orders his sons to race with their horses, and the one with the slower horse will receive his inheritance.

The two sons race, but since they’re both holding their horses back, the scenario doesn’t really work.

Perplexed, they go to a wise man and ask him what they should do.
After that, the brothers race again – this time at full speed.
What did the wise man tell them?

Answer:
That if they switch horses, whoever wins the race will get the inheritance because they still technically own the losing (that is, the slower) horse.
