Hello Daybreakers,

Our meeting this morning was very busy. We heard about the success of the workers at Saturday’s Motor Show of support, raising $2,000 in about 4 hours -  a very special thank you to those who helped out. It was a very successful day, with around $10,000 raised for Bushfire support, and it was wonderful that Daybreak was able to make such a valuable contribution.
Cheryl, Janey and Chris spoke about some of the speakers at Conference who were inspirational. The weekend was packed with excellent speakers, who talked on various topics, but all had Made a Difference in other peoples lives. It has been said that this was the best Conference in quite a few years.

Our guest speaker this week was Tony Austin from the RC of Warrnambool. Tony spoke to us about the ongoing work of District clubs in Papua New Guinea. The latest need is seen to be the requirement of water bores and pumps. Many residents in the targeted areas have no access to fresh, clean water. There are quite a few district members and clubs who participate in the project, and in the past Chris and Ian W have been involved and Daybreak has made small annual donations. Our board met straight after the close of our weekly meeting and agreed to submit a District Grant to contribute $3,000 toward the project. This may take up to 12 months to be received, but is separate to any club donated funds. We have not made a contribution this year, but I hope this may be discussed at our next Board Meeting.

Our speaker for next week will be Milee Collins, who will discuss Childhood Diabetes.

Next Week : Continental Breakfast $17.00
Please send apologies through to Steve on 0457 926 657 by Midday on the Tuesday.

LAUGHTER, THE BEST MEDICINE

A Moral Tale

Murphy showed up at Mass one Sunday and the priest almost fell down when he saw him. He'd never been to church in his life. After Mass, the priest caught up with him and said, "Murphy, I am so glad you decided to come  to Mass. What made you come?"

Murphy said, "I’ve got to be honest with you Father, a while back, I misplaced me hat and I really, really love that hat. I know that McGlynn had a hat just like mine and I knew he came to church every Sunday. I also knew that he had to take off his hat during Mass and figured he would leave it In the back of the church. So, I was going to leave after Communion and steal McGlynn's hat."

The priest said, "Well, Murphy, I notice that you didn't steal McGlynn's hat. What changed your mind?" Murphy replied, "Well, after I heard your sermon on the Ten Commandments I decided that I didn't need to steal  McGlynn's hat after all."

With a tear in his eye the priest gave Murphy a big smile and said; "After I talked about 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' you decided you would rather do without your hat than burn in Hell, eh?

Murphy slowly shook his head. "No, Father, after ya talked about 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery' I remembered where I left me hat."

A donkey had an IQ of 186. He had no friends at all though. Because even in the animal kingdom, nobody likes a smart-ass.

A group of junior-level executives were participating in a management training program. The seminar leader pounded home his point about the need to make decisions and take action on these decisions.

"For instance," he said, "if you had five frogs on a log and three of them decided to jump, how many frogs would you have left on the log?"

The answers from the group were unanimous: "Two."

"Wrong," replied the speaker, "there would still be five because there is a difference between deciding to jump and jumping."

Now that the metric system is in wide use all over the world, we can see why Americans have not adopted it:

A miss is as good as 1.6 kilometers.
Put your best .3 of a meter forward.
Spare the 5.03 meters and spoil the child.
Twenty-eight grams of prevention is worth 453 grams of cure.
Give a man 2.5 centimeters and he'll take 1.6 kilometers.
Peter Piper picked 8.8 liters of pickled peppers.

An Italian, a Frenchman and an Aussie were talking about screams of passion.
The Italian said:
"Last night I massaged my wife all over her body with the finest extra virgin olive oil, then we made passionate love and I made her scream, non stop for five minutes."

The Frenchman said:
"Last night I massaged my wife all over her body with special aphrodisiac oil from Provence and then we made passionate love. I made her scream for fifteen minutes straight."

The Aussie said:
That's nothing! Last night I massaged my wife ,y'know, all over her body with a special butter. I caressed her entire body with the butter and then made love. I made her scream for two long hours."

The Italian and Frenchman, astonished, asked, "Two full hours? ...wow! that's phenomenal. How did you do it to make her scream for two hours?"
The Aussie replied , "I wiped my hands on the curtains."

A father was approached by his small son who told him proudly, "I know what the Bible means!"
His father smiled and replied, "What do you mean, you 'know' what the Bible means?
The son replied, "I do know!"
"Okay," said his father. "What does the Bible mean?"
"That's easy, Daddy..." the young boy replied excitedly," It stands for 'Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.' (This one is my favourite)

A solider stationed in the South Pacific wrote to his wife in the States to please send him a harmonica to occupy his free time and keep his mind off of the local women. The wife complied and sent the best one she could find, along with several dozen lesson and music books.

Rotated back home, he rushed to their home and through the front door, “Oh darling” he gushed, “Come here… let me look at you… let me hold you! Let’s have a fine dinner out, then make love all night. I’ve missed your loving so much!”

The wife, keeping her distance, said, “All in good time lover. First, let’s hear you play that harmonica!”

The wife left a note on the fridge:

"It's not working, I can't take it anymore! Gone to stay with my mother."

I opened the fridge, the light came on, the beer was cold.

I wonder what the hell she is talking about?
