This week’s Members Choice was provided by Bob Jeans.  Bob’s topic of choice was ‘Outback Spirit’, a short film hosted by Frankie J Holden featuring the adventures of travelling through Arnhem Land.  Bob and Katy travelled to Arnhem Land last year.
A little bit about ‘Outback Spirit’ - Outback Spirit is part of Journey Beyond, a national business focused on bringing Australia’s most unique and iconic experiences to life. The Ellis brothers, who founded Outback Spirit 20 years ago, still operate and manage the business.
As an eco-certified company, Outback Spirit regularly reviews its potential impact on natural, cultural and historical environments who strive to be ecologically sustainable and limit impact on the environment through good practice, innovation and financial support for Australia’s pre-eminent wildlife conservation group, AWC (Australian Wildlife Conservatory).
AWC is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the protection of our most precious wildlife. With 3 million hectares under conservation locations such as the Kimberley, Gulf of Carpentaria, Cape York and Lake Eyre, AWC is making a real difference in the fight against extinction.
Outback Spirit supports remote Indigenous communities in certain locations across the Kimberley and Arnhem land by way of employment opportunities, community sponsorships and support for Indigenous owned businesses.

Melbourne Cup Celebrations
Tuesday, 3 November
For our meeting next week, please come along wearing your favourite hat, a glass of bubbly and high spirits, even though the Cup will have already been ‘run and won’ we may as well continue with the celebrations!!  The quiz next week will feature Melbourne Cup questions, so you had better get studying!!

And the winner is Melbourne!
 
It is with great excitement that we announce Melbourne as the host city for the 2023 Rotary International Convention, the largest conference secured this century for Victoria.
 
Melbourne is a Big Events City! Set to deliver over $88 million to the Victorian economy, the Convention is the most valuable conference ever won for the state, with the four-day event anticipated to attract more than 20,000 Rotarians from around the world. The global spotlight will be on Melbourne and how we present ourselves to the world.
 
The Convention will take place 27-31 May 2023 using superb venues; Rod Laver Arena and the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.
