Presidents Report
Change over Dinner Sat 29th June
The night was a great success to celebrate Chris's year as president. I'll take this opportunity to thank Jane, Cheryl and Ann for organising such a great night and thank you to all for attending and supporting the evening.
A successful Rotary year of "Creating Hope in the World" was acknowledged and celebrated for Chris.
Several donations were distributed to local charities on the night:
- St Vinnies
- Salvation Army
- Anglican Church
- Big Life
- PNG water projects
- Clontarf
We have a lot to be proud of as Day breakers and the work done this past year.
I was a deer in head lights with my first ever large public acceptance speech. In my panic, embarrassingly, I even forgot to call up a couple of my board members at the end! I truly apologise to everyone for this. I am prepared to making mistakes in this new role and appreciate everyone's patience and support.
72 people attended with approximately 50% of attendees being guests of Rotary. This was our first opportunity to show case the Magic we do as Rotarians to the wider community. The feedback from the guests was positive and we have hopefully created some interest for 2 potential new members in joining our club.
Thank you to everyone for looking after the guests and making them feel welcome.
We had a donation box on the night (thank you Cheryl!) and we raised just under $300.00. A great result with little effort and time spent.
President Goals and ideas for the year ahead
Trying to keep things simple and attainable.
- Rotary Club Excellence award
- Make our club "better and stronger"
These goals are a challenge to achieve but I am confident we can make a difference and our club can move forward over the next 12 months. Of course, I can only help us achieve this with the support of all the members. We are all volunteers who love our Rotary club and I deeply appreciate everyone's commitment and support.
Items currently being worked on include:
Corporate committee to be formed and led by Membership director Chris. Look into the update of club by-laws to in cooperate process for corporate memberships.
All members will be encouraged to participate in and support Cheryl who will run the guest speaker program. We aim to have guest speaker every week.
Members will be encouraged to invite guests to meetings (not paid by the club) to showcase what we do and to make our meetings more interesting and to maintain good breakfast numbers for our obligation to the RSL.
A visual monthly calendar will be projected up on the screen with all the monthly activity planned (places, dates, time) on display to keep members informed.
Collaboration of local Warrnambool Rotary clubs and further to our District Zone 8?
WhatsApp groups to maintain contact and effective communication by sharing club activities and ideas. Presidents in Warrnambool and also our District Zone 8.
Regular catch ups to be encouraged with committees and directors to keep projects alive and driving forward.
I'll take this opportunity to again thank those supporting and driving this club forward and offering me so much support and encouragement. We have every opportunity to grow and make our club better and I'm looking forward to the work ahead in achieving these goals with everyone. Lets make and showcase some Magic of Rotary!
