President's Chat
Liza's Chat 24
Hello Members of daybreak and welcome to Bulletin 24 which sees us in the month of December; Disease Prevention and Treatment Month on the Rotary Calendar

Guest Speakers - Our guest speaker this week was Assistant Governor and District Governor Nominee, John Clue.  John informed the members on his pathway into Rotary through avenues such as Rotaract and RYLA and of his duties in his upcoming new role as District Governor for the year 2021-22.  It will be John’s responsibility in this role to organize the District Conference in March 2022, which is likely to be held in Port Fairy. We ran out of time for Di Brown’s Fun Session, which is now scheduled for next week’s meeting.  Our guest speaker next week will be organized by Barry Moran.

The Care Program – The Care Program experienced high numbers last weekend with eight clients using the facilities provided.  The program will move to the F Project and commercial laundry facilities in Timor Street on December 22 for the summer period when the amenities block at Surf Side Two Park become unavailable to the program.

Request from The Rotary Club of Warrnambool East – The Hole in One Competition run by RCW East is one of the Club’s biggest fundraisers and runs from December 26 through to January 25.  The Club has put out a call to other Clubs in the area to assist on their roster as it has become increasingly difficult for their Club to fully staff the event.  The Club has decided that at the close of the competition other Clubs assisting will be recognised with a fair and reasonable financial contribution given to their Club, based on the numbers of people and hours provided.  The shifts are from 10am – 2pm or 2pm – 6pm.  I discussed this request with members at this week’s meeting and a roster will be circulated in the coming weeks for any Daybreak members that wish to make a contribution by participating in the roster.  Because the event takes place over a month long period, even one shift would assist the Club in staging this event.  For further information contact Ralph Ludeman on 0427 692 250 or email ralwen@westvic.com.au

Christmas Breakup –The Christmas breakup will be held on this coming Saturday evening December 7 at Cheryl’s house, 103 Illowa Road Dennington. The cost will be $30 per head and members can directly deposit to the project account.  Those attending are required to bring their own drink.

Christmas Breakfast – Daybreak’s last meeting for the year will be held at Andrew and Betty Suggett’s house on Wednesday December 18; a reminder to members to bring a chair and a smile for the group photo.  Our regular meetings will resume at The Lady Bay on Wednesday January 8, 2020 where we will have an update and discussion on our summer fundraising events.

Foundation Contributions – (as circulated by Brian Trennery Chair DRFCC) Many have been asking to where they should send their Foundation contributions. I apologise for not having the correct contact details on the web site and contribution forms that accompany your contributions but that has changed.
Effective immediately, all contributions should be sent to:
PDG Chris Sims. P. O. Box 322 Torquay, 3228. Mobile No: 0439 209 036
The contributions forms will be updated as soon as Pauline Stewart returns from leave which will be a couple weeks. The District web site will also but updated at the same time.
I thank you for your patience and understanding; we are working to get this correct to make it easier for you to make those important contributions.

100 Rotary Down Under – In April 2021 Rotary will celebrate one hundred years of service in Australia and New Zealand.  There will be many events planned to celebrate including a R100 Baton Relay (see poster below). To keep informed of events as they emerge go to http://www.rotary100downunder.com

Rosters for the upcoming Summer fundraisers, namely the Friday night market barbecues and outdoor movie nights are currently being circulated at our weekly meetings.  If you can spare some time your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Summer Night Markets – Fridays Dec 27th, Jan 3rd, 10th, 17th, and the 24th   4.30-8.30pm Lake Pertobe

LAUGHTER, THE BEST MEDICINE

One morning a man comes into the church on crutches. He stops in front of the holy water and splashes some of it on both of his legs, then throws away his crutches.

An altar boy witnessed the scene and runs into the rectory to tell the priest what he'd just seen.

Without batting an eye, the priest says, "Son, you've just witnessed a miracle. Tell me, where is this man?"

"Over by the holy water, Father. Flat on his back."

Two buffalo were standing on the range when a passing tourist said, “Those are the mangiest, scroungiest, most moth-eaten, miserable beasts I have ever seen.”

One of the buffalo turned to the other and said, “You know, I think I just heard a discouraging word.”

THINGS YOUR MUM WOULD NEVER, EVER SAY

"How on earth can you see the TV sitting so far back?"

"Yeah, I used to skip school a lot, too"

"Just leave all the lights on ... it makes the house look more cheery"

"Let me smell that shirt -- Yeah, it's good for another week"

"Go ahead and keep that stray dog, honey. I'll be glad to feed and walk him every day"

"I don't have a tissue with me ... just use your sleeve"

"Don't bother wearing a jacket - the wind-chill is bound to improve"

-----------------------------------------

When the wise company president learned that his employees were tanking up on no-trace vodka martinis during their lunch hours, he issued the following memo:

To all employees; If you must drink during your lunch hour, please drink whiskey. It is better for our customers to know you're drunk than to think you're stupid.

-----------------------------------------

Two little kids are in a hospital, lying on stretchers next to each other, outside the operating room.

The first kid leans over and asks, "What are you in here for?"

The second kid Says, "I'm in here to get my tonsils out and I'm a little nervous."

The first kid says, "You've got nothing to worry about. I had that done when I was four. They put you to sleep, and when you wake up they give you lots of Jell-O and ice cream. It's a breeze."

The second kid then asks, "What are you here for?"

The first kid says, "A circumcision."

The second kid replies, "Whoa, good luck buddy, I had that done when I was born. Couldn't walk for a year."

-----------------------------------------

A minister in a little church had been having trouble with the collections.

One Sunday he announced, "Now, before we pass the collection plate, I would like to request that the person who stole the chickens from Farmer Condill's henhouse please refrain from giving any money to the Lord. The Lord doesn't want money from a thief!"

The collection plate was passed around, and for the first time in months everybody gave.

-----------------------------------------

A father asked his 12-year-old son if he knew about the birds and the bees.

"I don't want to know!" the child said, bursting into tears. "Promise me you won't tell me!"

Confused, the father asked what was wrong.

The boy sobbed, "When I was six, I got the 'There's no Santa' speech. At seven, I got the 'There's no Easter Bunny' speech. When I was eight, You hit me with the 'There's no tooth fairy speech.'"

"If you're going to tell me that grown-ups don't really get laid, I'll have nothing left to live for."
