Tony's Tribulations.
We were planning to meet at the Central Court this Wednesday. Then we were suddenly in lockdown. Now we are unexpectedly out of lockdown. Doesn’t that just sum up the world we are in at the moment. The board continues to work hard to find solutions to this ever-changing situation. Bob is looking at finding a way for us to meet again as soon as possible. Brendan has the wheels in motion for a Zoom meeting on Wednesday at 6.00pm. You should have received an email from Brendan. Have a look in your email inbox for those details.
Congratulations to James for sharing his story on the ABC in support of veterans. Well done. Paul Blain will have to talk to his agent and find out why James is getting more TV air time than him these days.
Ian Senior went to the snow, filled up with alpine diesel and promptly broke down. He spent a few hours siphoning forty litres of alpine diesel out of his tank only to discover that this didn’t help. He left his ute by the side of the road and took the bus up to the mountain. Ian arrived just in time to hear that the state was in lockdown, and all the lifts had been closed. That was a good thing for Ian because lifts are dangerous and you can fall off them if you are not careful. On the positive side, Ian is still an RACV member from the last time he broke down at Fall’s Creek. No doubt the RACV guy remembered him and was only too happy to fix his ute again and send him on his way. Tremendous work Ian. The board will meet this Thursday at Mandala. Ian has returned from the snow just to look after us, and we will keep you updated on all the developments next week.

We need 5 Rotarians to volunteer to go with the students on the first week of the Matt Porter program on 16 August 21. The Rotarians will be required to meet at Brauer College at 10.40 am to be really to go on the bus to the Businesses. “Toyota, Ford, Tim Lowe, David Hetherington and Swayn and McCabe. You will need to allow about 1 and a half hours for the excursions.
We will need to have Rotarians for the other following weeks.

The two Ronnies.
Robbo has been enjoying the Olympics. The thing that particularly caught Robbo’s eye in Tokyo was the efforts of our Immediate Past President’s relative and namesake, Ronny Baker. The recent work of both Ronnie Bakers has been first class.
Being wrong.
We all make mistakes. None of us are perfect. It is human nature that when we are mistaken it can be difficult to accept. We often struggle to change course even in the face of overwhelming evidence that we have made a mistake. The list of prominent figures who have argued that Covid19 is a hoax or not dangerous and subsequently died of the virus is now depressingly long. Gerard reminds us that there is no vaccine for stubbornness.
Isolation.
This week Pip Ritchie reminds us that it is no good kicking up a fuss about being in isolation; no one is paying any attention.
Lew’s almost clean joke.
Lew has had a big run or outs with the censor recently. This week he sneaks this one under the guard of our censor Robbo, who appears distracted by the fact that he has become a stateless refugee, exiled and unable to return to Victoria. Lew writes;

William, a New Zealander, was in Australia to watch the upcoming Rugby
World Cup Test and was not feeling well, so he decided to see a
doctor.
"Hey doc, I dun't feel so good, ey" said William
The doctor gave him a thorough examination and informed William that
he had long-existing and advanced prostate problems and that the only
cure was testicular removal.
"No way doc" replied William "I'm gitting a sicond opinion ey!"
The second Aussie doctor gave William the same diagnosis and also
advised him that testicular removal was the only cure. Not
surprisingly, William refused the treatment.
William was devastated, but with the Rugby World Cup just around the
corner he found an expat Kiwi doctor and decided to get one last
opinion from someone he could trust.
The Kiwi doctor examined him and said: " William Cuzzy Bro, you huv
Prostate suckness ey."
"What's the cure thin doc ?" asked William hoping for a different answer.
"Wull, William ", said the Kiwi doctor "Wi're gonna huv to cut off your balls."
"Phew, thunk god for thut!" said William, "those Aussie bastards
wanted to take my test tickets off me!"
Central Spoke Contribution Award.
It is very difficult to win the barrel draw at the moment. Perhaps Boré has been drawing his own name out of the barrel for the past few weeks and helping himself to the wine. For the rest of us, the only way to score yourself a bottle of Garry’s finest is through Central Spoke contributions. We will award another prize in three weeks. You have to be in it to win it.
