Unfortunately, our lunchtime meeting scheduled for Wednesday 5th August could not be held at Central Court. This was a call made by the restaurant which is understandable due to the stage 3 restrictions that came into force. Hopefully we can meet face to face once the stage 3 restrictions end in 5 weeks. In the meantime, we will schedule a weekly zoom meeting for anyone who would like to catch up.
I hope you are getting used to wearing masks. I’ve tried the disposables (too light), the industrial type (too heavy) and the now the cloth masks (just right – Goldilocks wins again) Send your mask pictures into the Spoke and we’ll guess the Rotarian!
The no fines exemption for 20/21 is up for online auction in our Facebook Messenger Group. The current bid is at $200 with 2 weeks left to put in your bid.
In last week’s bulletin, Penno reported on the donation of books received by the Arado Elementary School on the island of Leyte in the Philippines. Penno is planning to send another shipment of books and soft toys so please support this cause. Thanks again to Penno for coordinating this project.

Boré’s view.
A few weeks ago we were getting weekly meetings going again, and now all of a sudden we are back in lockdown and unable to meet again. It has been that sort of year. Our new President must be wondering what to do about it all. As always, Boré was offering wise advice right from the start. Yes Gerard, it might be time to consult the Rotary beer fridges of opportunity.

Ten years ago this week.
Actually, more than ten years ago this week. Robbo has kindly sent us this photo of Rowan and himself dressed as a bull, walking around town to promote the club’s rodeo. Lorraine was on hand to prevent the boys from headbutting parking meters. Don’t you just love these old photos; the old cars, the co-op, the old WHIP building, old style parking meters. Thanks Robbo.
Our next Rotary project?
Back in the day we also famously built a shark themed billy cart. Here at the Central Spoke we have been toying with the idea of putting an engine in the design and re-starting domestic car production in Australia. We have built a prototype and are now just waiting for a $248,000,000,000 grant from the Federal Government to allow us to put it into production.
