This week saw the May Races run.
It kicked off with Huttos famous luncheon. This year BT was the guest speaker. I have to admit he was very good. The luncheon was a great success and good fund raiser for myeloma and Rotary. Well done Hutto on another well run function.
What is the link between the May Races and sprint car events in Warrnambool?
They both attract rain! This year was no exception! We saw rain and wind during the event, making it not very pleasant collecting the bins and sorting. Thanks to those that persevered through the challenging conditions.
This was the first time the Bonomatic 2000 was run for its first May Races event. It ran well and the consensus was it works well. It makes the process more efficient and has removed the health and safety risk associated with manually tipping the bins. Tony Davies even showed the machine can be used by one person to tip and sort bins. I got to the Races on Wednesday to find 6 bags already filled by Tony.
We collected over 41000 cans this year which was less than I was hoping for. Maybe the conditions caused the lower number of cans in our bins as people were forced indoors where we didn't have many bins? The Bonomatic 2000 has now been pressure washed and put away till the next event.
Thanks to all that helped with the luncheon and can collection during the week.
We have now raised over $22,500 from can collecting and Central RC is the highest fund raiser west of Melbourne from can collection. This is a great effort, well done to all.
As I have been attending Rotary regularly over the past month it is now time for me to have a spell. I will be away for the next 2 weeks and Paul has offered to stand in and use that training he recently completed.
