Thanks to Ann Ellis for hosting our lunchtime zoom meeting on Wednesday 12th August.  It was a light yarding and it was felt by those who attended online that having a lunchtime meeting when members are in the middle of their lunch could be a factor. So we are switching things up this week and having a ‘Happy Hour Covid Catchup’ on Zoom at 6pm on Wednesday 19th August. This will be a chance for you to inform the members how you are living with Covid (eg: have you been tested?), what work life or retirement life is like, and any survival tips you may want to impart.  Stage 3 restrictions have been extended so we won’t have the opportunity to meet face to face for at least another month.

If you can’t attend the catch up, can I ask that members please keep in touch with each other and support one another throughout this pandemic. We have a communication tree which was successful in having members in contact with each other when we first went into Covid restrictions so I would encourage you to keep the lines of communication open. Any contributions to the bulletin would also be well received.

The monthly board meeting is to be held this week and we will report back to the members of any board items in the next bulletin.

As for me, I’m off to Ontario this week (well, via zoom) to attend the ClubRunner Experience Virtual conference.  Should be lot’s of fun!

Stay safe, have a good week, keep in touch with your fellow Rotarians, and go Storm!

Cheers
Ronnie
Board Considers sending Pip to Ontario.

Last night the board considered whether to send Pip Ritchie to Ontario via Zoom for the Rotary Virtual conference.  Given the current financial situation, the decision was made to allow Pip to Zoom someone in Mount Gambier instead.

Warrnambool Central Covid Catch-up.

We will be hosting a Zoom ‘happy hour’ catch-up this Wednesday, 19th August, 6-6.30pm.  Pour yourself a wine, spirit or beer, join us on Zoom, and tell us what you have been doing during the pandemic lockdown.  We want to hear from everyone and find out how you are filing in your time.  Macca has emailed the Zoom link to everyone.  Hope to see you then.

Preschool books and toys.

Penno is still accepting donations of preschool books and toys for donation to the Philippines.  If you have something to give, please drop it off at Penno’s work, 861 Raglan Pde.  All donations are appreciated.

Thirty years with The Tickler.

Tim and Di are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary this week.  We extend our congratulations to you both.

Our online auction for the fines exemption will conclude at 1.00pm sharp this Wednesday 19th August.  The current leading bid is $260 from Bruce Ludeman.  Please nooooooo….!

Guess who.

This week we start a new pandemic themed competition; guess who is behind the mask.  Submit your answers on our Messenger group.  Bragging rights for the first correct entry.

Safety first.

As usual, Pip Ritchie is taking no chances with his safety at work.

Ten years ago this week.

Usually we report on something odd or funny from ten years ago.  Ten years ago this week, past D.G. Andrew Suggett spoke to the club about his experience with Parkinson’s disease.  It was a brave, informative and very moving speech that your correspondent remembers clearly to this day.  It made me feel proud and privileged to be in Rotary with men like Andrew.
