President's Report.

Hi Rotarians

I have confirmed that we will support the last Brighton Project goods distribution on Nov 22nd. In order to do this I'm looking for 1 trailer and a couple of bodies to accompany me to Caramut to load up the goods on Friday 21st Nov. Hopefully we can pack them into my trailer but if not we will use the 2nd trailer. Then on Saturday we will drive to Coleraine on Saturday to arrive by 10 am. I will then stay a few hours to pack any remaining goods in my trailer and return home. Please advise if you are able to support this last push.

On the trailer project it is still progressing with the variable speed drive ordered and design/construction under way. Tim thinks it will be easier if he makes the trailer so that will be easier than using Cobden Trailers.

Colleen D'offay has asked me to present the project distributing the goods to Brighton &Brighton North RC's on Feb 19th. I have accepted and will attend to represent the club.

See you all on Wednesday at 1:00pm!

Regards

Bono

Attendance: This week Nooka happily reported Bono's return is proving popular, with a record attendance of 27 members and two guests.  Our two guests were Maria and Maria’s recent host, Andrew.  Great work again Nooka.
Meal: Fish and chips.
David opened the innings with another excellent lawyer joke before bringing Bono to the crease for his second bat in a row.  A record crowd enjoyed Brendan report that;
  • The sorting table is progressing.
  • A big thank you to everyone who helped with the Brighton Rotary Club goods distribution last Friday.  The uptake of goods was excellent and the feedback from local communities has been very positive.  The project brought together our Rotary club, the RC’s of Brighton and Brighton North, 6C’s, the CWA, Sargent’s Transport and a range of other organisations.  It achieved good media coverage through radio, Fitzmedia and The Standard.  Colleen from the RC of Brighton should come and talk to us about the project soon.
  • We thank Andrew and Anne for hosting Maria.
  • The club’s Christmas party will be at Brendan’s place.
In other reports;
  • Surf advised the Trivia Night is likely to be at the Bowlo, either on the 20th or 21st of February next year.
  • Gerald announced that we will once again be offering two $75 Collins book vouchers to each primary school that wishes to take up the offer for their awards ceremony.
  • Matt reminded us that we will be distributing toys collected by Sinclair and Wilson in the week before Christmas again this year.
  • Paul noted that we have healthy bank balances and all members are paid up.  No, seriously.
  • Robbo reported on Maria’s drama class presentation where she played Ms Tina Sparkle from Strictly Ballroom and was very good.  Not sure if Maria recreated the scene where Pam Short broke both her legs, but I am sorry I missed it.
Maria then gave us an update on her exchange.  She visited Halls Gap and met the other exchange students in Western Victoria.  She has now moved to Robbo’s, where her only complaint was that there isn’t enough shampoo or conditioner.  Most of us vaguely remember what they are.
Andrew then spoke to us about hosting Maria for the past three months with his wife, Anne.  It was his first time as a host parent and reported it was a very positive experience.  He thanked Maria for being such a good exchange student and thanked Greg for all his assistance.

Glenn then conducted and excellent Australiana themed fines session before the barrel was drawn and Bishop Lowrey received the free meal voucher like manna from heaven.

Bono's travel diary.

Many years ago your correspondent and his significant other travelled to Japan. We loved the food there. Of course all the menus were in Japanese, a language we cannot read, so we had no idea what we were eating. We just pointed to something random on the menu, ate what they brought out, and it was all delicious.

Bono recently returned from Japan and was not as impressed with the food as we were. He has kindly sent us a photo of a Japanese menu. Oddly enough, it looks very similar to the menu in my surgeon’s consulting rooms.
