President's Report.
 
On Friday when Fools on Stools and Warrnambool Central Rotary Club supported the hospital auxiliary fundraiser  down at Pertobe road.  The night was a huge success and we raised around  $500 for the hospital from the bbq. We will finalise the amount at the board meeting this week.
 
Thanks to those that helped especially Big Bob for organising the bread and meat and Sam for getting the bbq and gazebo sorted. We had several cooks that did a great job also, thanks for your efforts. 
 
This week we have Noel Hallam from Hamilton RC coming to talk about a drought support program they are getting running.
 
I will be away in our 7th state for 3 weeks so Paul will step into the breach thanks Paul.

This week saw the passing of American actor Chuck Norris.  Norris became the subject of one of the first ever internet memes with the now famous Chuck Norris facts.  This week we bring you a selection of Chuck Norris facts to commemorate the life of the great man.

Bonomatic 2000 gets thumbs up.
 
This week Chris had a chance to give the Bonomatic 2000 a once over and has declared it a marvel of modern engineering.
 
Chirs and Robbo then recovered our old crayfish hats that we used to promote our old summer crayfish raffle.  They were attending Crayfest in Port Fairy and wanted to look the part.  Robbo and your correspondent had a brief conversation about the history of our renown crayfish raffle.
 
Robbo: The crayfish raffle might have had some legal issues, was it illegal, is that why we gave it up?
 
Me: I believe it was illegal, but I don't think that is why we gave it up.

Story Dog.
 
An unexpected delight at the Hospital Auxiliary was bumping in to Cheryl and the Story Dog our club sponsored.  Now I know what you are wondering.  What did they call the dog?  You will be pleased to know Story Dogs named the loyal, hardworking and semi-house trained servant of our club 'Pip'.
 
 
The two Pips.  Pip Jnr is certainly a chip off the old block.
 
There is no theory of evolution, just a list of species Chuck Norris has allowed to live.
 
Minutes.
 
Attendance: Glenn informed members there were twenty three members and two guests present.  Our two guests were Chris and the original Jon Vertigan.  David described Glenn’s report as ‘a breath of fresh air’.
Meal: Roast.  Except for Greg, who went with some sort of deep fried banger.
David got us underway with an excellent engineering joke before introducing our esteemed President, Bono.  Brendan noted;
  • Hutto has secured Brian Taylor as guest speaker for the Thoroughbred Luncheon at the May Races.  Talk to Hutto to secure your tickets.  Hutto is also still looking for donations of raffle prizes.
  • Please rsvp to volunteer at the May Races in the Stack App.
  • Brendan did an interview on Southern FM radio about the Brighton Rotary Club.  Nobody was listening because they were all tuned in to Jon Vertigan Jnr on ACE radio.
In other reports;
  • Jon Vertigan the second reported that there is a Beach Patrol volunteer leadership course on the 18th of April.  See below for details.
  • Bob reminded members they need to buy or sell their two raffle books prior to the draw on the 17th of June.  Please tell any sports of community groups you are associated with about the raffle.
  • Bob also encouraged members to register for the Myeloma Walk on Sunday the 29th of March.  See below for details.
  • Glenn informed us that Bob is leading the footy tipping with 11.  Everyone else has less. 
There was then a lull in proceedings, during which The Compass filled us in on his weekend activities.  Matt was telling us about how he had to give a speech at his brother-in-law’s weeding. His brother-in-law is a body builder who used to play the piano with the Tasmanian symphony orchestra. Matt made a joke about his brother-in-law being a muscly pianist, which Matt, his immediate family, and absolutely nobody else at the wedding thought was hilarious. Then Greg’s meal arrived and Greg suddenly seemed very keen for Matt to stop talking about pianists.
Jon then presented an excellent fines session based on members knowledge of the location of every pub in Victoria.  The somewhat surprising bolter was Bishop Scott.  Lew suggested we ask Bishop Scott to bless the Bonomatic 2000.  I would suggest we park it in a hotel car park to increase our chances.  Haysey won the barrel draw and we wrapped it up for another week.
They were going to put Chuck Norris on Mount Rushmore, but the granite wasn't hard enough.
 
Myeloma Walk.
 
Dear Fellow Myeloma Supporter,
 
Once again we are staging our walk in Warrnambool to create awareness of the cancer Multiple Myeloma and provide support for Myeloma patients.
 
It is being held next Sunday 29th March commencing at 10.00am. The walk will take the same route as previous years and is over about 3 and a half kilometres.  
I have included below a poster about the walk with the QR Code for easy registration. Please note also that we will be assembling behind the Beach Kiosk as in previous years.
 
Also note that Vanessa Thornton, owner of the Beach Kiosk, has kindly promised to donate $1.00 from ever coffee sold on the day to our cause. This is for every coffee sold on the day not just to our walkers.
 
The CEO of Myeloma Australia will be attending our walk and speaking before the walk. 
 
It would be greatly appreciated if you could once again support our walk and cause thank you. 
 
Please also note the registration is now $30.00 and you will receive a free T-shirt which will be posted out to you so please order the correct size thank you.

Ten Years Ago.
 
More than ten years ago, our inbound exchange student was Aquiles from Mexico.  Robbo recently exchanged messages with Achilles, who took a keen interest in the Australian Grand Prix.  Aquiles was a gun goalkeeper for the soccer team Robbo played in at the time and stayed with the Robinson's when Oskar was just 18 months old.  Robbo reports Aquiles has a very successful business importing stationary products (they are hard to move no doubt).  He also has a beautiful wife, a young child and many classic MG's.
 
Giraffes were created when Chuck Norris punched a horse with an uppercut.
