Happy New Year, welcome to 2021

I hope you enjoyed Christmas and the new year with your loved ones and had some time off to recharge the batteries.

We will be back in business at the Central Court Motel on Wednesday 13th January, 12.30 for 1pm. Please contact Mark McFadden on 0407 052 758 or email Mark.McFadden@roads.vic.gov.au to confirm your attendance by 6pm Tuesday 12th January. Face masks will need to be worn in the foyer or if you need to go to the rest room, but other than that you can move around mask free in the dining room and at the bar. You will need to register your details at the door and payment by card is preferred. Don’t worry Nooka, Sam will be there to look after the EFT machine, and maybe give you a lesson!

Just a reminder that we are looking for members to assist with the hole in one competition. If you can spare 4 hours to complete a shift between now and Australia Day, it would be most appreciated by Rotary East (who run the event) and Rotary Central as we will obtain a share of the profits based on the number of shifts that we complete.

Looking forward to seeing you all again

Cheers

Ronnie

Robbo admitted to the bar.

Hopefully Robbo is enjoying retirement.  However, if he ever he feels the desire, soon he will be able to ‘return to work’ when ever he feels like it.  I might go in for some professional advice myself from time to time.

Lew launches new beer.

Lew has been busy over summer producing a new beer for our club.

Ten Years Ago.

Ten years ago, ADG Rob Coffey noted that every year for the past four years we had held a disaster relief fundraiser at this time of year.  The disasters were;

·       TSUNAMI - 2008

·       BLACK SATURDAY - 2009

·       HAITI EARTHQUAKE - 2010

·       FLOODS – 2011 (Every Eastern Australian State.)

This year, like 2011, was another La Nina year and we have seen flooding again this summer.  Last year we had bushfires over summer just like in 2009.  Maybe Rob is was on to something a decade ago?  Should we just organise a fundraiser every summer in expectation of the natural disaster to follow?

In case of emergency.

Thank you to all those who contributed this week.
