The Rotary Club of Warrnambool Central will hold its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday March 23rd, 1.00pm, at the Warrnambool City Bowls Club. Nominations will be accepted for President, Secretary and Treasurer for the 2022-23 Rotary Year.

We have a board meeting coming up followed by the club AGM. If you have any feedback for the board about how the club is going, it would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to talk to any of the board members.
The District Conference is coming up next weekend. There is still time to register if you would like to join me on the forty-seater to Port Fairy.
This Wednesday Paul Reilly will talk to us about his time in Mongolia. Paul's talk should be fascinating.

Boré’s View.
Boré recently organised a guest speaker to talk to us about mosquito’s and malaria. Some people seem to think that Boré is mispronouncing the word ‘malaria’, which is curious because Google tells me that the Dutch word for malaria is malaria. Interestingly, the Dutch word for mosquito is ‘mug’. Boré is no mug, and he is keen to do something to help combat malaria. This week he reminds us that April 30th is Malaria Awareness Day.

Alison Bonjer has invited us all to support the South West Healthcare Warrnambool Auxilliary by going to see a special showing of the movie 'House of Gucci'. I am not very familiar with the film, but I believe it is based on the life of Paul Blain. Should be a ripper.

Bullant pulls a hammy.
Lindsay Bullivant looked a million dollars out on the tennis court this weekend. He was beautifully colour coordinated in his team's hi-vis workwear. Unfortunately, Lindsay’s tilt at the title was nipped in the bud by a nasty hamstring injury that will keep him out for about six weeks. Lew Officer was on the spot to capture all the drama.
Rotary Horse Racing Report.
Power of Song ran in Warrnambool today. In her previous two runs ‘The Song’ had been badly out of tune. Our horse was backed in to second favorite in the race. Clearly punters saw something in Power of Song’s form that her owners could not detect.
Uncharacteristically, our ungulate jumped well out of the barriers and ran most of the race setting the pace out front. She was over-run in the end, but only by two horses and so returned to the mounting yard with a very respectable third place under her belt. I don’t want to get connections too excited, but we may have won enough to cover next month’s training fees.

There was a time when we all used to complain about fuel prices. Today, given the alternatives, the topic can create some debate. Pip Ritchie recently went to the petrol station with our Charter President and filed this report.

Ten years ago, the club welcomed Father Scott Lowrey into the club. Rowan introduced Scott to the club as ‘someone other than Bruce who doesn’t mind frocking up once in a while.’
