Hi all a busy week ahead I will be in Brisbane this Wednesday, but Ronny will take the helm for the first time as incoming president. Mary headed for Brisbane Monday morning and will spend 3 nights with another rotary exchange student and her host family in Brisbane. The girls flew to Australia together. She will then fly home to Melbourne with me Thursday afternoon. Look to catching up with you all the following Wednesday

Update on Mary from the Tickler.
This week Mary has headed off to the Banana Benders to spend some time with her friend from Switzerland, who is also on exchange. Di and Tim will jet up to Brisbane to join Mary shortly.
Of course, up North they call Victorians ‘Mexicans’. Fortunately, on the last day of term Mary got into the spirit of being a Victorian. She is flying to Queensland just in case Donald Trump has built a wall.

30th Birthday Celebration.
Last week I announced that the Club Service Committee had decided to hold another 30th Birthday celebration again this year. Our Charter President and Past President Garry Askew promptly informed me the club was 31. No doubt we can discuss the matter further this week at our 30th Birthday celebrations;

Swiss fast facts.
Last week we mentioned that FC Basel kicked of their Europa League campaign with a game against Russian powerhouse club FC Krasnodar last Friday. Did our favourite Swiss club get over the line? Does a chicken have lips? Of course they did! One highlight was that the FC Krasnodar players scored more goals for FC Basel (one own goal), than they did for Krasnodar.
This Friday Basel face Turkish club Trabzonspor in the second leg of their Europa League campaign.
Ten Years Ago.
Ten years ago our President Garry Askew returned from a fishing trip up North and reported he caught 196 barramundi and 'numerous other things' including a three meter crocodile. Garry reported he 'released all but seven of the barramundi and they tasted fabulous'. All seasoned fishermen taste a fish before they release it.
In other news, ten years ago our Charter President returned from a trip. Bruce rode his Harley up to Byron Bay to visit his hippie friends, including past member Charles Hegedus. Fortunately we were able to obtain this snap from Bruce's trip;
