Golf Update.
For a man who became rich and famous for driving long and accurately, Tiger Woods has had a few memorable shanks while driving. He has often been accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol. To be fair to Tiger, ‘driving under the influence of alcohol’ describes 80% of social golfers standing on a tee at any golf course in Australia.
It all started in 2009 when Tiger was driving his Cadilac at 2.30 in the morning while he was being pursued by his wife, Elin Nordegren, who was wielding a golf club. Apparently, she discovered Tiger in a difficult lie. My information was that it was a nine iron, but Robbo informs me it was a five iron. Robbo knows a lot more about golf than me, so I assume a five iron is a better choice for the sort of shot Elin was going for.
Tiger ploughed his Cadilac (look away now Bono) through a fire hydrant before parking it up against a tree. Elin arrived shortly after and expertly removed a rear window with the aforementioned five iron. I am going to say she was trying to rescue Tiger.
Tiger also drove into the rough in 2021 and again just a few days ago. In 2017 Tiger was also arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. In that incident he hadn’t crashed his car at all. Surely officer, you would chalk that up as a win for Tiger and let the man be on his way.
In summary, golf is a complicated game, and I don’t pretend to understand the rules.
