Greetings from the President.
Rotary has monthly themes – I know most of us know that but how many know what the ‘Theme of this Month is?
The following are the 12 Rotary Month Themes – bet you didn’t know – because I didn’t!
January – Vocational Service Month
February – Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention Month
March – Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month
April – Environment Month
May – Youth Service Month
June – Rotary Fellowships Month
July – Maternal and Child Health Month
August – Membership & Extension
September – Basic Education and Literacy Month
October – Economic and Community Development
November – Rotary Foundation Month
December – Disease Prevention and Treatment Month
So, I am not sure what we can achieve for October with the ‘Economic and Community Development’ theme, maybe a bit late in the day, but we can certainly do something about the month of November being Rotary Foundation Month.
And here is a further challenge – who is our Director responsible for Foundation?
Congratulations to Bono for achieving retirement – or at least very close to it – however it now leaves us with a major challenge. Bono has indicated to me that he will be away for the majority of the remainder of this Rotary year and will be resigning as secretary – so we need a new secretary. Bono will ensure a seamless handover, but we need somebody to hand over to – any volunteers?
And let us not forget that Matt Northeast, as President Elect. Would much prefer somebody to take on that role – after all, Matt has been a President in the past – again – any volunteers.
