We are meeting this week at the Timor Street Bowls Club (Not City Memorial). Meals $20, drinks at bar prices. Wednesday, 12.30 for 1.00pm as usual. Parking on the city side of the club off Timor Street.

Tony’s tribulations.

Greetings fellow Rotarians.

It was great to join Linda, Brendan, Louise, David, Amrica, and Gerald at the Seanchai trivia night. Thanks to Bob for organising it. Our team came a commendable forth out of fourteen. Possibly we could make it a regular thing.

Rotary clubs across Victoria were informed on Thursday night that a number of people from Fiji had arrived in our state to take up various jobs. They arrived ill-prepared for our winter. Thirty-three of these people arrived in Warrnambool to accept work locally. After some discussion amongst board members, it was decided to provide some vouchers to assist our newest residents purchase appropriate clothing. These vouchers and some clothes donated by local churches have now been delivered. We have received feedback that they were very much appreciated.

Our much-delayed AGM is on this Wednesday. As always it promises to be three minutes of tremendous excitement as we elect our leaders for the next Rotary year. I hope you can join us.

Minutes.

Attendance: A good number of members were in attendance, but we are not sure how many. Nooka goes away for one week and the whole place falls apart.

Meal: Chicken casserole with scalloped potatoes.

Brendan asked members to download the Stack Teams app. From this week onwards we will be using this app to rsvp for all future events. Please download the app to assist our hard-working club secretary.

Our guest speaker was Matthew Morse. Matthew is an architect and has designed the imminent Golf Club redevelopment. Matt showed us the design and walked us through the process that has got the golf club to this point. Matt spoke of the very challenging current environment for construction at the moment. Supply constraints and constant cost increases with materials demand a different approach to managing a project like this. The design looks incredible and no doubt the new clubhouse will become a local landmark. Construction begins very soon and the project should be completed in about 18 months. We thank Matt for taking the time to speak to us about this important local project.

The barrel was spun and Sam walked home a winner with the flagon of high-priced booze.

Rotten Returns.

Like everyone else, Ron has been struggling in recent times with shortages on the supermarket shelf. This week he brings us an update on his progress.
