New Apology Arrangements

With the retirement of Silver Ball Hair Design, Clive has also retired from his long held post at Apology Central.  Farewell Clive and Hello Andy!

If you are unable to attend a meeting or will be away for a period of time, please now contact Andy (or the Central Court) per the following arrangements .

Please send apologies by text/sms (preferred) and try to keep your message to about 18 letters (including spaces).  This will reduce the need for me to open messages and I will be able to quickly see and note your apology. A simple message, abbreviated if necessary, is all I need (see below).  A longer message is fine if you are advising about absences in the future.

If you are unable to text, please feel free to call me and leave a message if I am not available.  To make texting simpler, you may wish to set up a template on your phone, for example as follows:

For the immediate current week upcoming meeting

·       Name (or Nickname) ap this week

For a future meeting or number of meetings,

Please clearly give your name and the dates you will be absent as follows:

·       Future date (single meeting) - date you will be absent

·       Future (sequential) meetings : from (first dated of absence) to (last date of absence)

·       Future (non sequential) meetings- all respective dates (in order please!)

Please advise all apologies by 4.30 pm on the Tuesday prior to the following day’s meeting.  After this time you will need to contact the Central Court directly on 5562 8555.

Many thanks!

Andy (0438 616 462)

Working bee rescheduled.

Due to unforeseen circumstances relating to the gifts Rowan received from Santa, our nursing home working bee has been rescheduled from this Wed (9th) to next Wed (16th).

More military advice.

Newspaper #1.

Lew Officer has been up North reading the Sydney Morning Herald.  Lew noted that Robbo may have been busy with work over the holiday period.

Newspaper #2.

Your correspondent was wondering what ever happened to the scriptwriter from the movie ‘The Castle’.  Turns out he now works as a sports reporter for The Standard.

Football update.

This time of year always raises several football related questions.  When is it too early to start bagging supporters of other clubs?  When is it too early to start selling Melbourne merch at a discount?  This week we attempt to answer at least one of these questions.  Over the holidays your correspondent visited the MCG Museum of Sport after our Tullamarine-Cairns flight returned to Melbourne due to a serious technical defect – specifically that none of the toilets were working.  Apparently, CASA does not allow you to just drop to a low altitude, depressurise the cabin, and open one of the doors.

Anyhow, I could not help but notice that there was only one club represented on the discount rack of the Museum of Sport merchandise store.

Titus O’Riely – The worst ideas of 2018.
Bob McMillan reports;

Carlton on Friday nights
We can dust this off from a few years ago, with the AFL once again plastering the woeful Blues across Friday nights, effectively making Friday nights an AFL free night.  At the same time, games like the Showdown were buried in terrible timeslots.  Yet, we should be thankful we got to see St Kilda trouncing the Blues 118 to 52, which my eyes have almost recovered from.

As anger grew, the AFL claimed it was due to difficulties with short breaks but it since this is the second time in recent seasons this has happened, it seemed more like the AFL still think that Carlton is a relevant club and not the new Fitzroy.

Obviously some good came out of it, next season’s draw has Carlton buried so deep that no one will see them, they might as well be being broadcast on Mark Latham’s Facebook Page.
Thank you to all those who contributed this week.
