The Rotary Club of Warrnambool Central will hold its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday March 23rd, 1.00pm, at the Warrnambool City Bowls Club. Nominations will be accepted for President, Secretary and Treasurer for the 2022-23 Rotary Year.

Tony’s tribulations.
Greetings fellow Rotarians.
It was great to welcome Amrica Hall into our club last week. We welcome Amrica and look forward to her participation in our club.
Sad news of the passing of Toni Dillon’s mother this week. We send our condolences to Toni and Brian.
Our thoughts are also with Bernadette and Matt Northeast, who continue to care for Ed. Hopefully their situation will improve shortly.
The film ‘The Duke’ has been rescheduled for the 31st of March. This looks likely to be the only time the film will be shown in the cinema in Warrnambool. We will be raising money for End Polio, so please put that date in your diary.
Our weekly meetings do seem to be returning to some sort of normal and we have plenty of people interested in joining our club. All promising signs after some difficult years. Hope to see you at the bowls club for lunch tomorrow.

Rotary Horse Racing Report.
Sirileo Miss ran at Flemington on Saturday in the Furphy Francis Treessady Stakes. Try saying that ten times after a half a dozen cans of Guinness. Her main rival was Annavisto, a horse owned by a group of Essendon past players. Your correspondent was sure he could see Macca, Di and Stu next to the mounting yard on the TV before the race. Unfortunately, Sirileo ran quite poorly and Annavisto won the race. The non-Essendon supporters in our syndicate were sure Annavisto would test positive for thymosyn beta-4 after the race but, as always, these proved to be unfounded allegations. Fortunately, horse racing is not the kind of sport where people are tempted to inject banned performance enhancing substances just to gain a competitive advantage.
We are not sure what went wrong, but it is possible that our temperamental horse was spooked by the sight of Macca and Stu next to the mounting yard before the race. Naturally, we congratulate Annavisto and her strapper, Stephen Dank. I am joking of course; Stephen Dank has not been involved in any professional sport since the AFL tribunal found him guilty of trafficking growth hormone to Carlton. The stables don't know what went wrong with Sirileo on Saturday. Hopefully Sirileo is okay, partly because connections just spent all her previous prize money on the horse’s sister.
In summary; a disappointing day, but at least we lost to quality people.
