Tony’s tribulations.
Greetings fellow Rotarians.
It has been a big week in Rotary. Last Wednesday we met at the Vic Hotel for lunch and we thank the venue for accommodating us at short notice. Boré has provided us with a full report below.
On Saturday night many Rotarians attended the RSL Active dinner at the RSL. It was a great night with a large crowd, excellent food and very interesting speakers. The night was also blessed with the presence of a member of Australian music royalty. He was a guest in the audience rather than part of the entertainment, so I won’t mention his name. However, as people who have spoken to me since will attest, yours truly was very excited to be in the same room as him. Congratulations to Adam and James on a great evening.
The Bool Music and Wine Festival is rapidly approaching. The last I heard, Garry was still looking for one last musical act to fill out the program. Young people these days go crazy for the electric organ, so maybe we could look in that area. Please talk about our festival with your family and friends. Sunday saw members attending the Jericho Cup race day, as we have since its inception. The weather was kind to us and the Warrnambool Racing Club put on another great day. Dillo’s horse that never loses came in second, which is nearly a whole field better than it did last time.
Matt has teed us up to help out at the new cemetery on Sunday 12th December, 10.00am – 1.00pm. Hopefully you can join us out there and assist the cemetery trust.
Our Christmas break up is on Saturday December 18th. We will need to know numbers for catering purposes, so please give some thought as to whether you are able to attend. Naturally, partners are invited.
We are at the Timor Street Bowls Club for lunch this week – Wednesday 1st December, 12.30 for 1.00pm. We will try out the Bowlo this week with a view to making it a longer-term relationship. There is ample parking There is ample parking on the West (city) side of the bowls club, which can be accessed from Gibson Street, which runs between Timor Street and Merri Street. Hi Booran
An email just to thank you to you and the members at Warrnambool for their generous support We could not have got this water capture project started without your support.
The people at Komea have clan connections with Sigiri and they were so exited about the success of what we funded it was at their suggestion that we launched this project in Sigiri.
I wrote to RAWCS and explained that while the Komea project was an earthquake remediation project and what we did there was to refurbish and expand the water supply to the village, so we got the $3,416.00 left over from Komea.
Mount Martha stumped up $2,000, your club Warrnambool put in $2,500 and I put in $2,000 from Dragon Boats which I am closing down.
The funds are all currently with RAWCS and will be transferred the PNG on Monday or Tuesday to pay for the tanks, piping guttering etc to complete the installation.
Moses says he will pay for the transport and this will be the best Christmas present the village of Sigiri has ever had.
Moses brother, Timothy is our ‘man on sight’ and when we have this project up and running I am planning a birthing kit program for Komea.

Boré’s view.
We are currently looking for a new meeting venue. Last week we moved to the Vic Hotel at short notice. We thank the Victoria Hotel for looking after us last week. This raises the question; should the board consider buying David Jellie some trackie daks and a beanie and making the Vic Hotel our new venue? Boré certainly noticed that the meeting was well attended and lots of empty plates as we pulled up stumps. This week Boré sends us both a cartoon and a photo.
For good food, good fellowship, we thank thee Vic Hotel.
