This Wednesday we are meeting at the Lady Bay Resort for lunch (order off the menu) and then having a hit of Hole In One golf in support of the Rotary Club of Warrnambool East. It is also the last day that competitors can qualify for the 'Win the Car' shootout on the 26th. I have no idea about golf.... I'll just have to green and bear it, but it'll be fun as you guys are the best by par and simply tee-riffic!
FYI, the WCC Australia Day Ceremony at 9am at the Lighthouse Theater. 20 new Australian Citizens will be welcomed, the Warrnambool Citizen of The Year, Local Achievers and Event of the Year will also be recognised. Congratulations to Wei Lin and her team for taking out Event of the Year for their amazing Multicultural Day on the Civic Green. Big events like those rely on funding and volunteers, of which both we were able to link/provide some support to. It was a great day and a good example of how we can tap into the community to enhance our Rotary experience.
We are back on the lookout for some guest speakers, if you have any topics in mind, be it a local speaker or even a zoom guest from another district (even overseas ones!) please let myself, Bob or Brendan know.
Lunch last Wednesday was great, 27 of you made the effort to come along and the vibe was fantastic. While we always bang on about RSVP'ing, which is definitely important, and needed to help thing run smoothly'ish, I have been reflecting on why it was so much fun last week. Don't let not RSVP'ing stop you from coming along. I'd rather you come, be welcome, acknowledge best practice and join in. If you haven't RSVP'd please try to come early to order over the counter to save the disruption later. You are always welcome. The naughty corner is by the bar!

Your correspondent took minutes, as normal. I typed them up, as normal. I may have forgotten to save them. So this week the Central Spoke has barely any pretence of containing any factual or informative content. Fortunately James sent us some photos to paper over your correspondent's failures.
Attendance: Nooka reported twenty seven members and possibly some guests. I know Surf McPhail was there. I also recall Nooka declaring that he had finally had it, and he was never doing the door ever again.

Rotary Horse Racing report.
Exciting news this week, with Power of Song running in race 6 in Warrnambool this Wednesday. Come to Rotary lunch and stay to watch the race! We are hoping Power of Song does well, at least partly because the syndicate doesn't have enough money in the account to pay next month's training fees. This, my friends, is the excitement of horse racing.
Even more exciting is that Dirty Angel looks like finally making her long awaited debut in Warrnambool the following Wednesday. It will be a thrill for syndicate members because, you guessed it, we don't have enough money in the account to pay next month's training fees.
Best of luck to all those involved. You will be receiving an email requesting more cash if the horses don't run well.
