President Paul is stamping meetings with his own style. As the bar roller door descended ready for us to begin, the Pres spied a glass of coke and ice sitting alone on the bar and grabbed it just before the roller reached the bottom. “Anyone’s coke?” he cried. No takers, so presumably some surprised bowling club member on the other side.
Pip again swore of commencing with a joke, and instead told another true story about a fruit shop proprietor…..very amusing as it turned out, but let
us just say it didn’t sit naturally with what Pip unearthed about his role in the Rotary manual….”the Sgt ought proceed with tact and diplomacy, and avoid any jokes which might offend sensibilities”.
Director Jellie advised Warrnambool Rotary Club have an inbound Danish exchange student Simon Larson arriving on Sunday and wonder whether we might be able to assist by hosting for a month or two prior to Christmas? Can we all consider whether any of us might be able to help. All Warrnambool clubs are probably at the stage of needing to spread the inbound hosting load.
Sub’s are going out soon. $300 plus the option of a $100 Centurion donation which goes to Rotary International. This year, in order to bolster our depleted coffers, we’ll also be given the option of a $100 payment which will go directly to our club. It is noted that of the $300 sub’s, our club retains only retains $27.
In Nooka’s absence Glenn reported 21 members in attendance. No visiting Rotarians and no guests. DO all think of bringing as a guest anyone who might be a prospective member.
The Pres advised our host venue has asked for any feedback and/or suggestions regarding our current meal rotations. Thoughts?
With no guest speaker this week we enjoyed an extended and lucrative fines session of a Dad joke required from everyone, and a fine for anyone who failed to come up with one. Gee there were some worthy shockers. Fines seemed to descend even on those who actually told a joke. Pip and Paul wrapped up an enjoyable lunch recalling some unfortunately named friends from the past….Di Verticulitis, Anna Phalactic, Colin Oscopy and Con Tagis.
