Attendance: Nooka crunched the numbers and recorded 24 members, one guest and one visiting Rotarian in attendance. Our guest was Moses Pulop and the visiting Rotarian was our president, Bono.
Meal: Crumbed fish.
Gracey kicked off the day with a blue joke about a carpenter before introducing President Bono. Brendan noted that he had read last week’s edition of the Central Spoke and that ‘everyone’s a comedian’ and there is ‘no respect for the office of president’. Brendan further advised that;
- The Up Challenge is only weeks away. Join us or sponsor someone who is taking part. Encourage friends and family to join us or sponsor us.
- Get your raffle tickets back to Bob by the 10th of June.
- Rsvp for the Changeover dinner on June 26th in the Stack App.
- A big thank you to all those who helped collect cans at the May Carnival. The Bonomatic is fantastic, has been cleaned, and is now in the Trigg Foundation shed.
- Four barbecue aprons have been purchased for the club (see photo).
- Fifteen high-vis embroidered tops have been purchased for events (see photo).
- Verto’s motor home broke down in Bateman’s Bay (a.k.a. Canberra Beach) and Louise had her purse stollen in Greece. This is why you just stay at home Brendan.
In other reports;
- The student who recently lost her father will be going on camp this Friday with our support. Matt thanked the club for this assistance.
- Gracey reminded members that they can do virtually any physical activity to participate in the Push Up Challenge. Get involved and recruit other people to get involved.
- Nooka reported that after a tough week to tip, T-bone has hit the front with 75 winners. This all the more impressive because Trev tips weeks in advance.
Moses Pulop spoke to us about our past cooperative projects and potential future projects. Moses’ presentation began poorly when he mentioned Collingwood and Scott Pendelbury. It rapidly improved as he began to speak about the projects in the Southern Highlands of PNG.
Moses spoke about the spring water capture and rainwater harvesting projects we have already completed. He also spoke about the building of water access and toilets at the school. We have also assisted in providing 400 birthing kits with another 200 to be sent shortly. The timber has been cut and work will begin soon on building the new maternal care hut.
Possible future projects include the replication of past water projects in other areas. Apparently, the interest from surrounding communities is great. Moses and Boré are also exploring the possibility of sending school and medical supplies to the Ingin village area.
It was great to see Moses again he remains a friend of the club. Hopefully we can continue to make an impact in the Southern Highlands.
The barrel was drawn and The Compass snagged the free lunch.
Moses and The Bishop are normally partial to stories about a carpenter,
but Graceys carpenter story was of bit too off colour for their tastes.
Bono operated Moses’ lap top for him. That was a bit of a surprise because, as Bishop Scott pointed out to me, you do expect Moses to be more of a tablet man.
