Minutes
Attendance: Nooka recorded a good roll up with 24 members and 1 guest entered into the books. Our guest was soon to be exchange student Lexi Forbes. Trev Bonney was recorded as a visiting Rotarian.
Meal: Crumbed fish with chips, salad and a slice of lemon.
Stand in sargeant Dillo was excited to be back at the podium as he introduced President-elect-elect Paul to get us underway. Paul encouraged members to think about Greg’s message with regard to inbound exchange student hosting.
Paul stepped in as President with prepared notes and everything.
In reports;
· Greg spent last weekend with Paul and Lexi at Swan Hill for an exchange program briefing. He noted it was great for the exchange student, inbound and outbound, to meet and socialise. Both Greg and Paul seemed to indicate that some of the content was repetitive and less vibrant than it may have been. Thanks to Greg for taking the considerable time to join Lexi in Swan Hill.
· Greg directed members to the letter from Grace Scott that we included last week. We need host families to have inbound exchange students. If we don’t host inbound exchange students we may very well not be able to send outbound exchange students. Please give it your every consideration. You don’t need to have a high school aged child at home. Consider it yourself, but also ask your friends and family if they might be interested in hosting a student.
· Surf is planning a trivia night for February 21st next year. Trevor’s knee should be right by then and they plan to get the band back together, Blues Brother’s style. Stay tuned.
· Tony D shared some Polio Plus news and encouraged members to consider joining the District 9780, Polio Plus Society. For as little as $100 per year you can join us in supporting this important Rotary project. Talk to T.D. or go to

· Paul reminded members to pay their membership dues. Paul has a list of members who have paid and you want to be on Paul’s list.
· Bim invited members to his book launch on Saturday at the Cooramook Hall.
· Hutto was, uncharacteristically, at Flemington recently and was supporting some Myeloma Australia fundraising there. He was very proud of the local Myeloma fundraising and what we have been able to achieve here.
· Hutto reminded members we need volunteers at the Jericho Cup on December 1st for can recycling.
· Hutto and Dillo are also in discussion with some other public venues and events to handle their container recycling for them. Stay tuned.
· The Thoroughbred Club is holding its Jericho Cup luncheon on the Friday before the races. Tickets are available now from John.
· Sam’s daughter is the chairperson of the Wunta Committee and they are looking for volunteers to assist with the Friday night. People with RSA certificates are particularly sought.
Lexi then spoke to us about her trip to Swan Hill. She was home hosted by a 24 year old Rotarian! How encouraging. Lexi met eight outbound students and four inbound hosted in our district. The RC of Swan Hill Sunrise hosted a dinner on the Saturday night. Lexi still does not know where in France she is going, but it is likely to be somewhere in the South of France. D.G. Lesley Shedden will be visiting us on December 4th and Lexi will join us again for that meeting. Lexi’s father, Paul, noted that all of the inbound exchange students were great people. We thank Lexi for joining us and speaking to us again.
The barrel was drawn and Lew went home a winner. We all went home winners after another excellent Rotary meeting.
