President's Report.

Hello Rotarians

This week he had our board meeting hosted by Glenn and Joan in their newly renovated home. It has come up a treat! Well done Glenn & Joan and thanks for your hospitality.
Surf is back and has a list of activities for the club. He is looking to do the quiz night after the roaring success of last year. He is thinking of November again. No doubt he will keep us informed in due course.

East RC are running a film in support of End Polio on 2nd Oct 6pm. Tickets $25. Movie the Travellers starring Bryan Brown.

My attendance stats have been increasing over the past month so I need to rectify this. As a result this will be my last meeting for a while. Paul will be back next week ably filling the gap.

Have a great week, see you Wednesday.

Boré’s View.

Most of Boré’s cartoons are spur of the moment things; something will happen in or between meetings and Boré responds immediately with a topical cartoon.  Not this week’s cartoon.  This one has been twenty years in the making.  For years, whenever we have not held our regular Wednesday lunchtime meeting at our normal venue, Boré has been faithfully turning up only to discover an empty venue.  For years he has been drawing cartoons of himself sitting alone in the Central Court or other venues after one of these incidents.  For years Boré has been longing to put someone else into one of these cartoons.

Finally, the long-awaited day has arrived.  On behalf of Boré, let me just say thank you Robbo.  Thank you for going to the Bowlo while we were all gathering in the RSL to meet.  It really meant a lot to Boré.  It gives Boré great pleasure to present his cartoon to you this week.  Enjoy.

We thank Boré for another great cartoon.
Minutes.

Attendance: Who knows?  It seemed quite decent though.

Meal: Whatever your heart desired, as long as it was on the RSL menu.  Bono tried to order a senior’s meal, but the bar staff took one look at his rich thatch of dark hair and declined his request.
David stood up and tried to speak without the aid of a microphone over the din of a large RSL lunchtime crowd.  I am assuming he introduced our President, because Brendan stood up and spoke.  Brendan advised us;
  • Please pay your membership dues if they are still outstanding.  Our club is outstanding, but your dues should not be.
  • Our Christmas shindig will be on December the 5th and Linda and Brendan’s.
  • Our joint club meeting at the RSL is going ahead on September 24th.
  • We were please to welcome back Surf and Jon, and possibly another member who’s name this correspondent did not catch.
  • The RC of Port Fairy will be holding a fashion parade on September 19th.  Entry is $15. Bono is the current short priced favourite.
  • Rob Harris is doing okay but is obviously battling a very serious illness.  We continue to think of Rob.
In reports;
  • Jon asked members to rsvp immediately in the Stack App for the September 24th meeting.  We need numbers for catering purposes.
  • Matt advised that Bernadette, Matt and one other wonderful community member had completed the proposed storm clean up at the local resident’s house.  We thank Matt, Bernadette and the anonymous volunteer.
  • Hutto was organising members for another round of can sorting at the racecourse.
David chimed in with another excellent lawyer joke before Matt presented a great fines session based on the AFL finals.  We did quite poorly at answering the questions, partly because all the StKilda, Essendon, Carlton, Bulldogs, Richmond and Melbourne fans present had actually forgotten the finals were on.  If Matt had asked us questions about draft and trade rumours we would have aced it.  The barrel was drawn and Les went home with the rich prize on offer.

We thank the RSL for hosting us in our hour of need.
Fifteen Years Ago.

Fifteen years ago we reminisced about the era when the all the world were ABBA fans and ABBA were Paul O’Brien fans.  Those were the days.
