Thanks to Brendan and Linda for hosting the board meeting last week. Members will have received your membership invoice, the board agreed to raise the membership fee to $300/$400 (centurion) as we have not has a price rise for a very very long time (no one could remember when!).

It was great to have Matt Porter from the Neil Porter Legacy come along to lunch on Wednesday and update us. Young people being given exposure to all kinds of careers is a critical step to finding their passion.

This Wednesday Komea Village Chief, Moses Levy, and his father, along with RC Mt Martha Pres. were coming to update us on the water projects our club had been supporting. Please watch the video here:

So lunch will be a club forum, a chance to talk to others on your selected committee and plan some work in each portfolio. If you haven't already nominated what committee you would like to be on, please let us know this Wednesday.

Lastly, but importantly, there has been debate around the diversity and inclusion flags in this bulletin. Inclusion is not erasure - many people never face bias and discrimination - the lucky majority - using inclusive terminologies and symbology does not deny or erase someone's identity, but simply includes others with other identities alongside them.

Let's genuinely ask ourselves, do we really "Welcome ALL in our Club"?

Minutes.

Attendance: Hutto presented a door report this week. The minutes record the following quotes from Hutto, but no actual attendance numbers;

‘The whole bloody thing is over the shop.’

‘Good roll up.’

‘I think there is couple who haven’t paid.’

Nooka would be so proud. Our guest was Matt Porter from the Neil Porter Legacy.

Meal: Beef stew under a square of puff pastry for some reason. A pie without a top is a flan, but I am not sure what you call a pie without the bottom and sides. Has Jason got a job with the Bowls club? Very tasty.

Our Sarg, Amrica, kicked off proceedings with a Bega Cheese approved dairy joke before introducing our President. In reports;

· Matt informed members we will have a working bee with the other Rotary Clubs to plant trees at the new playground at Lake Pertobe, probably in October. More details to come.

· Boré has invited Moses to speak to us next week about a planned project in PNG.

· Boré also proposed a project to help a vision impaired resident to purchase a new tandem bike.

· Boré also discussed Greg’s proposed project to install second hand play equipment in a school in PNG.

· Bob McMillan invited members to volunteer to assist Greg and Bob Coffey to run the Eisteddfod debating contest.

· Bob also informed members of a plan to raise $12,000 to fund a scholarship to train a local nurse in specialised cancer care to assist people with Myeloma and a range of other cancers. Most of the money will hopefully be provided by Peter’s Project and the philanthropic trusts but we will probably be expected to make a contribution.

· Malcolm announced that the Warrnambool Wine and Music Festival is slotted in for the 26^th February 2023 at the Warrnambool Racecourse.

· Bob gave us the current footy tipping results with Robbo out in front on 110, with Dillo, Nooka, Hayesey, Rowan and Lew hot on his heals. The jackpot for picking nine has build up and would be worth collecting if anyone can jag nine in the final rounds.

Chairman Rob then introduced our guest speaker Matt Porter. Matt is now working full time for the Neil Porter Legacy thanks to the generous support of David Hetherington. Matt does amazing work with local schools and local students to link students with the full range of possible career options. It was impressive to hear from Matt of the full range of programs that the Neil Porter Legacy runs. Matt also acknowledged the contribution of volunteers from our club who had assisted with one of these programs in the recent past. We thank Matt for taking the time to update us on his work with the Neil Porter Legacy.

There was just enough time for some fines from the floor before James pulled Rowan’s number out of the barrel and members drifted off into the pleasant winters afternoon.

Robbo misses sunny Warrnambool.

People often complain about Warrnambool's weather and often go to Queensland at this time of year. However, under current circumstances, you could argue that our weather is very good indeed. Robbo sends us this weather report from Noosa.

Your board at work.

Last week the club board met at Linda and Brendan’s home. Most board members enjoyed red and white wine with a selection of cheeses, small goods, and pulled pork sliders. Meanwhile Boré continued to be diligent with his recovery from a knee reco. We thank Linda and Brendan for allowing us into their home, providing us with a wonderful choice of food, and providing Boré with a fully equipped physiotherapy rehabilitation facility. All going well, Boré should be available for selection and back on the board in 2-4 weeks.

There is a pill for that.

The older we get, the more likely it is that we will be taking long term medication. Some people end up with a whole complex daily regime of tablets. This week Pip Ritchie shares his daily routine with us.
