Tony’s tribulations.
Greetings fellow Rotarians.
The changeover is on us again and my year as President has nearly come to an end. There is little more for me to say other than thank you to the whole club for giving me the opportunity to fill this role in the club that has been a wonderful part of my life for nearly twenty years.
I thank every member for all the big and small contributions that you made during the year. It was noticed and greatly appreciated.
It is a theme I have returned to throughout the year, but I remain convinced that the World and our community need Rotary more than ever. I wish James and his new board every success and ask that you support James as much as you can to make his year a success.
I hope to see you Wednesday.
Kind regards
Tony

Please keep an eye out for your name in the weeks ahead. If you are not able to be at a meeting please organise someone else to stand in for you.

Trivia night.
Brendan kindly sends us this snap from the recent social night at the Seanchai.
Minutes.
Attendance: Nooka recorded 24 members present.
Meal: The seventeen members who rsvp’d before 12.00 noon on Tuesday enjoyed a shepherd’s pie. Five members missed out on this excellent expression of mince and had to make do with bangers and mash.
Nooka reported that Robbo is out in front of the footy tipping before David Jellie set about conducting our AGM. David was out of the blocks early and had the minutes of the last AGM accepted, James elected as President-elect, Garry elected as President-elect-nominate, Garry also elected as treasurer and Brendan elected as secretary as well as Sinclair Wilson nominated as our auditor all in a blistering time of 2.27. Members were deeply impressed. We congratulate James, Garry and Brendan their election for the year ahead.
Meg, Gracey, Nooka and Trev then gave us a presentation on their fitness group. Members are invited to join them 6.30-7.30 every Tuesday and Friday at the rear of Warrnambool Physiotherapy in Fairy Street. We thank Meg for taking the time to talk to us.
Dining with Nooka and Trev is like dining with the Melbourne Football Club.
Rotten Returns.
LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION Re President-Elect James Mepham
1 James Mepham, our president elect, can always be found
2 hard at work in his cubicle. James works independently, without
3 wasting company time talking to colleagues. James never
4 thinks twice about assisting fellow employees, and he always
5 finishes given assignments on time. Often he takes extended
6 measures to complete his work, sometimes skipping coffee
7 breaks. James is a dedicated individual who has absolutely no
8 vanity in spite of his high accomplishments and profound
9 knowledge in his field. I firmly believe that James can be
10 classed as a high-calibre employee, the type that cannot be
11 dispensed with. Consequently, I truly recommend that James be
12 promoted to executive management, and a proposal will be
13 executed as soon as possible.
Addendum
The idiot was standing over my shoulder while I wrote this report.
Kindly re-read only the odd numbered lines.
David goes stateside 1.
David and Louise Jellie recently vacationed in the United States. They visited one of the finest restaurants in Tennessee. How could you tell it was a good restaurant? Firstly, they deep fried only the finest raw ingredients. Secondly, they kept the riff raff out, as David noticed when he tried to enter.
David goes stateside 2.
Unfortunately, David and Louise got Covid and had to spend an extra week in the US recovering. How did David’s work colleagues react when David failed to return from the US as planned? Brendan slipped around to David’s office to find out.
Market update.
These are uncertain times. Central Spoke finance expert Ron McLeod sends us this report.
Rotary Horse Racing Report.
Elizabeth Quinlan recently observed that ‘we are reliant on Sirileo Miss to pay for all our other horses’. This is an accurate description of Warrnambool Central Racing’s business plan. Unfortunately, Sirileo Miss has been quite poor lately, undermining our whole operation. On Saturday Sirileo lined up in the Bruce Gadsden Handicap at Flemington. Sirileo jumped reasonably well and then steadily worked her way towards the back of the field over the journey before coming home in eighth place.
Should we send her to South East Queensland and see if Nozi Tomizawa can work his magic on our troubled horse? No doubt the experts at Wilde Racing are discussing the options as we speak.
The good news is that we have already banked sizable winnings from Sirileo’s past successes. The bad news is that we spent all these winnings to buy the horse’s sister, thereby increasing our training fees.
More exciting updates as they come to hand.
Ten Years Ago.
Ten years ago, Boré submitted a cartoon for the Central Spoke. Nothing unusual about that. Boré submitted his cartoon just before he headed off for an extended holiday in The Netherlands. He cartoon cam with the following commentary from our cartoonist.
Hi.
If this cartoon is offending anyone ...I don't care..... because I am overseas for a looooong time.
Regards.
