Greetings fellow Rotarians.
We continue to live in interesting times. Our omicron wave seems to be on the decline, but then again students returned to school today, so who knows what the next few weeks will bring. Businesses and the whole economy continue to struggle with a workforce shortage that is causing this unofficial partial economic shutdown. At the Rotary club we continue to plan ahead while knowing that we will need to remain flexible.
Over the next month we have three excellent guest speakers (see calendar above) and one service project; the 38 Mate walk for Myeloma Australia. I hope you can join us for some or all of these events.
Once again Robbo has kindly provided us with these minutes from or last meeting.
Another most enjoyable lunch last Wednesday with an increased yarding. Great to see past member pat McKenzie come along to catch up.
The paraphernalia will be out for a return to formal meeting procedures this Wednesday, with a guest speaker, so do aim to come along.
There were some formal matters conducted last Wednesday. For example, a vote was taken on whether the wearing of a Collingwood football club shirt (as was done by Brendan O’Neill) should be allowed. Overwhelming vote against, although disturbingly Pat McKenzie supported Brendan.
In another astounding turn of events, Sam Baulch turned up wearing Birkenstocks instead of RM Williams. Incredible! The last great challenge now remaining for the club is to see Pip Ritchie wearing shorts.
For those who haven’t yet got back into the routine, we can assure you the new venue is terrific. Let’s see an even better turn up this Wednesday as we hopefully emerge from Covid.
