Attendance: Nooka helpfully reported that he had ‘no idea’ how many members were present. There were no visiting Rotarians and no guests.
Meal: The meal this week was whatever members chose to order from Proudfoot’s extensive menu. Your correspondent rates the food Matt produces at Proudfoot’s as the best in Warrnambool. Lew Officer has peeked at next week’s menu and sends us this exclusive;
The club had intended to conduct a tour of the Warrnambool Cemetery guided by Doug Hazelwood. Unfortunately, on the day Doug found himself in that awkward middle ground where he was neither sufficiently well enough to attend the cemetery nor indeed sufficiently unwell. Consequently, the club just met for lunch at Proudfoot’s restaurant. Bob did invite members to browse through the cemetery by themselves prior to the meeting if they so desired. We certainly wish Doug well and hope to see him back in the cemetery very soon.
Rob returned from the District Assembly to officiate the meeting in James’ absence. Rob reported that he stayed in ‘Fawlty Towers’ in Halls Gap and attended the District Assembly as both an Assistant Governor speaker and as our club’s entire delegation. He might have hired the same moped that our club took to the District Conference. Well done, Rob. Rob did report that our Group now contains Camperdown, Terang, and Cobden in addition to the Portland, Port Fairy, and Warrnambool Clubs.

- Brendan informed us that John Meade has named a trotter after his late son, which was a lovely touch.
- Brendan also informed us that Nooka has a nickname. I always thought Nooka was the one member of our club who did not have a nickname, but Bono reckons it is ‘Marshmallow Boxhead’.
- Nooka advised that lots of people picked nine in the footy tipping so nobody was getting paid. ‘Dildo’ is leading with Nooka in second place.
Robbo gave us a fantastic account of Oskar’s efforts in the recent Australian Ironman event. Oskar competed in the gruelling 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and marathon run to raise money for Dementia Australia. Oskar had raised a phenomenal $14,000 as of last Wednesday. Oskar finished the event in 10hrs 48 minutes despite some setbacks that hindered his progress. While Oskar was busting his gut for Dementia Australia, Robbo supported him by having his wallet stollen, shaving his legs and getting a Thai massage. Port Macquarie; it is the Bangkok of New South Wales. We congratulate Oskar and thank Robbo for his presentation.
