It’s with a little relief and much sadness that I pen my last ticklers ramble. I will take the opportunity to sincerely thank your board, as without their calm skilful work behind the scenes our club could not operate. Jerard-Lew-Mark-Sam-Garry-Tony-James-Brendan-Peter-Brian and our sarge knuckles thank you all. You have been right behind me all year.
I would also like to thank the rest of the team (club members). So many of you do much more than your bit. You get behind the board whenever required. It’s what makes our club different.
It’s been an honour to serve as your president for the past year, my how it’s flown. My plan for this year is to be right behind Jerard as Lew has done for me I step down knowing our club is in good hands to deal with what will be challenging times in the year ahead. Thank you all your 75%ordinary 25% corona president tickler tim
Cheers
Tim Goodall
Combined board meeting.
A combined board meeting (new and old board) will be held on Wednesday 1st July, 6.30pm, Central Court Motel. Order from the menu, drinks at bar prices. This meeting will serve as our change-over dinner. Clothing required. It is regretted that this meeting will be limited to current and incoming board members due to the current restrictions.
All we need to say this week is congratulations to Tim on a great year as President. Tim has done a terrific job in one of the most unusual and testing years imaginable. Well done Tim!
We thank Boré for another fantastic cartoon.

Juan Fangio goes fishing.
Last weekend Junior Senior kindly took your correspondent fishing. Ian was disgusted at my fishing ability. Few fishermen have done more to preserve dwindling fish stock than yours truly. I did manage to snare an undersized fish that got my hook caught in the side of its body as I was bringing it up to put more bait on. I threw it back in, only to have a waiting albatross gobble it up for lunch. According to Ian, I don’t even know how to throw a fish back into the ocean properly. Luckily, I hardly ever catch any.
It was great to see Ian get out on the boat, pin the ears back and stick the throttle all the way towards the floor. If you look at the speedo, he got it to 40 miles an hour. Converted to knots, this is nearly 40% of the cruising speed of our President when he goes fishing.
The fish Ian caught.
The fish your correspondent caught.
Ten years ago this week.
A week earlier we had reported;
‘Ron once famously gave a keynote address to a who’s who of our district at Glenormiston. His speech focused the roll of the District Governor, and attracted the attention of senior people within the district. Ron was immediately invited to take on a new role in Rotary.’
Ten years ago we were able to elaborate;
This week Tony ‘Parkinson’ Grace got to the bottom of this story. Ron explained to Parko that after two district bulletin awards he was the darling of the D.G. and he could not understand what went wrong. However after the famous speech at Glenormiston, the district governor had written a letter of complaint to the board of our club asking to have Ron removed from Rotary. Fortunately wiser heads prevailed and Ron continues to contribute to Rotary.
