Ronnie’s Wrap.

Rotarians

We had another Rotary Central happy hour and Covid catchup on Wednesday 30th September with 8 members on board. The usual suspects had their say with further updates on life in a Covid restricted Warrnambool

Bruce had a quick cameo with news on his Silverado. Well there is no news, it’s still on the docks and the MUA are on strike / go slow so it won’t be here soon. I understand Premier Dan is putting in a new step to get us back to Covid Normal – the delivery of Bruce’s vehicle!. If anyone has a spare 4WD with a towbar that can lug a caravan to Halls’ Gap over the grand final weekend, please give Ludes a call.

Bono has a heap of gumtree mulch that he’s putting on (you guessed it) Gumtree. He also gave thanks to those who joined him in the walk for Brain Cancer. Congratulations Team Mattyeo.

Potholes advised he was going to resume hitting a golf ball this week after a considerable spell and suggested maybe he would need the services of Bono to chop down a few wooded obstacles on the course.

Also on the subject of golf, Chill in his role as President of Warrnambool Golf Club had the pleasure of being interviewed by Catriona Rowntree (of Getaway fame) for a segment in a new show called Country House Hunters. Bad luck Compass. No guesses as to who supplied Chill’s wardrobe, his couture reminded me of a song from the 80’s.*

Haysy gave us an update on the planned vocation expo (he’s raring to go) and had high hopes for his Cats in their qualifying final. I can only say bad kicking is bad football Pete, luckily they have the double chance.

Tony has taken delivery of a wheelchair that is in need of a good home, I’m sure we’ll have a few takers.

And the Bullant took us into his office, and then promptly disappeared!

Don’t forget Big Bob has arranged for a bowls night at City Memorial Bowls Club on Thursday 8th October. Dinner is booked for 6pm if you wish to have a bite to eat beforehand. Bowling under cover and under lights will commence at approximately 7.30pm. If you haven’t already sent a R.S.V.P. to Bob, do it now. Bob’s email is bobmcmillan5@bigpond.com

The 2 bottles of Penfolds Bin 389 2010 vintage are still up for grabs and the online auction is to close soon. Thank you Lew for your generous donation.  I’ve upped my bid to $210 and as of print it still is in the lead. A two horse bidding war is going on with myself and the Tickler but I’m thinking there are a couple of swoopers out there waiting their turn

Cheers

Ronnie

Lew's wine auction.
Our President is the clubhouse leader for the two excellent bottles of Penfolds wine with a bid of $210.  We will conclude the auction at midday this Friday 9th October.  Felicity would prefer that Ronnie not gain access to another two bottles of plonk so, if you would like to pocket the two bottles of quality sauce for yourself, she would be most grateful.

Boré’s view.

This year has been tough on many people.  None more so that Bob McMillan, who has had to deal with the temporary closure of the Warrnambool Hotel.  Apparently, he went home and was surprised by how much the trees had grown.  Fortunately, Bob has filled in his time by playing lawn bowls with Greg and Knuckles at City Memorial.  Word is that he is no slouch on the green either.

Bob has organised a casual bowls night this Thursday 8th October at City Memorial Bowls Club.  You can have dinner at 6.00 at the club if you like, followed by a few ends of lawn bowls.  Wives and partners welcome.  Let Bob know by replying to his email (bobmcmillan5@bigpond,com).

Boré has seen Bob in action on the green (and on the amber, and on the red), and likes what he sees.

Paul Blain stars on the small screen.

This week in our Zoom meeting it was revealed that a prominent media personality recently recorded a television episode in Warrnambool.  He appeared on screen with Katrina Rowntree in an upcoming series about buying houses in regional Victoria.

Paul appeared on screen in a light-coloured jacket.  At first some members thought Chill had borrowed Richie Benaud’s old jacket from Hutto.  However, closer inspection revealed it to be a delightful shade of pink, matched with burgundy pants and tan leather shoes.  Paul’s pink jacket, red and white striped shirt and burgundy pants appeared on a particularly verdant looking golf course in a scene that is sure to have viewers everywhere reaching to adjust the colour balance on their TV sets.

Apparently, the show has already been sold in Korea, although it wasn’t clear whether this was North or South Korea.  Either way, Paul’s Jacket is sure to be a hit either side of the 38th parallel.

We don’t want to cast dispersions on people’s appearance.  People can wear whatever they want, and no one is a consistency worse dresser than your correspondent.  However, there may be reasons why some people appear on television and others do not.

We look forward to seeing Paul on TV.

If you are looking for a bite to eat...

Dogs in a pandemic.

Pip Ritchie has recently been looking at buying a dog to assist with social distancing.  He sends us this report.
Dogs in a pandemic.

Pip reports it is important to choose a dog carefully.  Chose one that suits your location, family and lifestyle.  Don't make the same mistake Pip made last time he bought a dog.

Lew Officer has a dog, although he is getting a bit sick of it.

Ten years ago.

Ten years ago, our guest speaker was Doug McLean from the Rotary Club of Warrnambool.  Doug informed us that the project was up and running with $100,000 raised so far.  Our club had contributed $25,000 to this total.

Silverado update.

Apparently Bruce ticket the option box for the air suspension.
