Attendance: Nooka recorded 26 members in attendance. He noted a ‘change in leadership’ had really boosted attendance figures over the past two weeks. Robbo claimed 27 but your humble correspondent could only count 25. We will split the difference and give Nooka the benefit of the doubt for once. Nooka made no mention of any guests, but Maria was definitely there.

David kicked off proceedings with another excellent lawyer joke before introducing The Compass in the absence of Bono. With Bono away and President-elect Paul about to head off, Matt does appear to have the gig in perpetuity. Matt observed that everyone had had a great night at the Cally on Friday, or Saturday, or next month, to celebrate Maria’s birthday. Matt again thanked the Trigg foundation for their support of our container collection project. He also announced we were successful in our application for a $10,000 grant to facilitate the construction of our new conveyor sorting trailer. Great news.

- Hutto extended thanks from Marg for all those who have expressed kind wishes during her recent health battles. Marg is on the mend, the house has been sold, and they are about to move to Mooney Valley.
- Hutto has been approached by Premier Speedway to handle their container recycling. This is something that needs to be discussed.
- Shane advised that Harrison had his kidney transplant on Monday and is doing very well. Great news.
- Nooka informed us Marlo remains in front in the footy tipping on 96, with Rotten and T-Bone just behind on 95.
- Robbo observed that he was five behind in the footy tipping but would have been five in front if it were not for the fact that he had been tipping Melbourne every week. It appears to have suddenly dawned on Robbo that his life would have turned out better if he wasn’t a Melbourne supporter.
Greg then introduced our special guest speaker, Maria. Maria gave us a wonderful report on her recent safari to Western Australia. Maria and fellow exchange students. Despite two days without toilets or showers the exchange students appear to have had a fantastic trip. Maria described how the bus drive came across an injured kangaroo and ‘decided to kill the kangaroo, otherwise it would just die’. While we commend the bus driver for his innovative approach to healthcare, it may have been a good thing that no exchange students were injured or fell ill during the trip. We thank Maria for her wonderful report.
Paul conducted and excellent fines from The Age, I mean fines from the floor. The barrel was drawn and Gary snagged the free meal voucher before David sent us away with one last lawyer joke.
