President's Report.

Hi Central Rotarians

This week sees us celebrate Australia Day . I also found out that our project with Brighton RC to distribute the DIK items was nominated for an Australia Day Community Award. Unfortunately, we did not win this time around. Glenn and I attended to represent the club and accept the award should we have been successful.

Last Wednesday we had our meeting at the Hole in One competition supporting East RC. This year the NAGA award was won by Quincy. Why is it the golfers of the club win this award? Do they need to spend even more time practicing?

Well done to the club for the efforts at the Red Hot Summer Tour. We raised $2,000 which was a good result. We also go to give the new machine for sorting a run through on the Sunday.  Fortunately for me it was a success and the members using it gave it the thumbs up! There are some small modifications happening this week to rectify some of the improvements identified. I have also purchased a couple of lockers to store bags, ties, tools etc so they are all in the one spot. I have also purchased an esky so the operators will have a place to get a drink in the future.
I would like to give the unit another run through when we have it back to make sure we are happy with it before the may races. If anyone has an idea please let me know.

Also I think we should put some signage on it to identify the club and the fact we are reducing landfill and also recognise our sponsors. Put your thinking caps on for a catchy phrase.*

I'm going to be an apology for this week's meeting unfortunately.  I am doing a swing shift on Tuesday midday to midnight.  Bega has asked me to support them with an issue which I was going to do Tue but now will have to go in on Wednesday instead. Apologies for not being able to get there.

I have also received a proposal form Ian Harper of Day Break Rc that we have a combined meeting with some guest speakers as per the information below. Also I have received a proposal from Brooke McLeod that we have a joint meeting to hear from the NYSF candidate Nekoda, some time in April. Our club didn't sponsor this candidate but anyone would be welcome to attend.

See you all next week

Regards

President Bono

Proposed Joint Meeting.

Hi All, I am suggesting we consider another combined meeting of our clubs to hear Guest Speaker Shane Wilson on “Ä Big Life – Footsteps” and either Jodie Hill on Mental Health OR Barbara Sheehan on “Ridding the World of Plastics”

The venue proposed is Warrnambool RSL Club (no fee)  5.45 for 6.00 start and meal and drinks at bar prices.

It is proposed that other District Clubs may be represented, and Noel Howard our District Community Rep would attend along with Christine Dufty District Governor

I am wondering if your club could consider if they would be attending – open to questions and alternatives

Cheers

Ian Harper

Members gathered to once again this year to try out hand at golf and support the Rotary Club of Warrnambool East and their wonderful Hole-In-One competition.  A big thank you to Warrnambool East for making us welcome once again.  After careful adjudication the officials awarded Malcolm the coveted helmet.  Honorable mention to Robbo, who managed to chip at least one ball into the foreshore dunes right in front of the judges.

Ten Years Ago.

Eight years ago, we celebrated the 30th anniversary of our Rotary Club.  The event was a bit of a dog's breakfast to organise because nobody could actually remember when our club was chartered.  Your humble correspondent spent some of the long weekend sorting through the treasure trove of items that came from our Charter President.  Look what I found!  September 16th 1988, it's official.  Is it too early to start planning our 40th birthday celebrations?
