Wednesday was a nice get together with lots of O’Brien time. We celebrated Mary’s 17 birthday in style. Hope everyone is ready for our big event at the PAC this Thursday. The peace concert is a sell-out. Many thanks to everyone helping to make this event happen, especially Rob. If you are able, please give Rob a call to see if there is anything you can do to help. Will talk more Wednesday.

Attendance: Nooka counted 30 members and 1 guest, but declined to elaborate any further. Mary was our guest.
Meal: Corned beef and vegetables, both under a white sauce.
Knuckles opened the meeting but was serving a one week ban from telling jokes after an off-coloured joke in front on the wrong guest the previous week. Tim opened the meeting and called for reports;
Lew reports that the Corryong Rob Coffey Haircut Project is likely to go ahead.
Brendan returned from the grant writing course and advised us it was ‘interesting and boring’. He also advised that to apply for grants, we need to plan ahead. So, no use to us then.
Gerard returned from the PETS training in Creswick. Has anyone ever gone and failed to come back?
Stu asked members to consider hosting ‘The Maes’ for the Peace Concert. Junior advised that in his experience, to host a band you only need one bed. Judging by the cover of the Maes’ latest album, you will only need one bath. (Google it.)
Malcolm informed us that the Auction has a good list of items to auction, now we need people to attend. Start thinking about who you can invite, and make sure you keep your diary free on May 16th.
Robbo then gave an impromptu and very entertaining talk about some aspects of his football and legal career. He was known as a good defender in both fields.
We all then donned party hats and celebrated Mary’s 17th Birthday as she blew out the candles and cut the cake.

Boré’s view.
In the 1970’s there was a popular TV show starring Lee Majors called The Six Million Dollar Man. The premise of the show was that Lee Majors was Steve Austin, a NASA astronaut who was injured in an accident and rebuilt using bionic body parts (for the sum of six million dollars, a large amount in 1973). The show had the catch phrase, ‘We can rebuild him, we have the technology’.
It is now 2020 and we are living in the imagined future of the 1970’s. We hold small, powerful computers in the palms if our hands. Computers capable of connecting Boré to a bloke in a cubicle in New Delhi who wants to sell him cut price, high tech panels that generate electricity simply by being exposed to the sun. Computers capable of repeatedly connecting Boré to this dude in the middle of our Rotary meeting. What a golden age.
Doug Gardner is the Lee Majors of our Rotary Club. Years ago, doctors would have just taken Doug out the back of the hospital and put him out of his misery. Some still want to. However, it is 2020 and we can rebuild Doug, we have the technology. Possibly the only original part of Doug left is a brain and spinal column, floating in a synthetic nutrient medium and surrounded by all the latest in bionic technology. Boré has been examining Doug’s clinical records, and filed this report.

Rotary foundation.
Two things if I may:
First is the deadline for items for the first publication of "Strong Foundations" is Friday 6th March 2020. If you have a short story about a Foundation funded project, a successful fundraising event, if you want to ask other clubs if they would be interested in supporting one of your projects or if you are looking for a speaker etc, this is the forum. We really welcome photos as well. The first edition of "Strong Foundations" is due out just prior to conference. All items should be sent to me at bjtrenery@bigpond.com
One other thing: there are a couple of vacancies on our District Rotary Foundation Committee, Fundraising, Polio and Major Donors, we would welcome any offers of support or if you would like to nominate someone for any of these sub-committees, I would be glad to follow them up. These jobs are not too time consuming but they can be if we don't support to the Chairs and those already in these positions.

Rotary Horse Update.
Last Wednesday Physicality brought his unique brand of equine male sexuality to the Terang Racecourse. Our heaving object of sexual desire started the race as third priced favourite after The Age tipped him to win. The raunchy gelding ran just behind the leader for most of the race before tiring in the strait and greeting the judges in sixth place. Our sensual mode of transportation might not have impressed the punters, or enhanced the reputation of The Age’s tipster, but Physicality lost no fans amongst the fillies on the day.
