Attendance: Nooka chalked up twenty members in attendance; ‘twelve shorts and eight trousers.’ We had no guests or visiting Rotarians sporting any chosen pant style.
Meal: Corned beef and vegies. An interesting fun fact about corned beef is that it would be grey except for the added nitrates, which both give it the pink colour and reduce the risk that the cured meat will give you botulism. The nitrates have been shown to cause liver and bowel cancer in rats but there in insufficient evidence to establish that they cause these diseases in humans. Bon appetite!
Sarg Dillo introduced our stand in President The Compass, and we were off and racing again. In reports;
· Matt proposed that we do a Bunnings BBQ on the third Saturday in May. If we are going to do it right Hutto will need to buy the bread soon.
· Boré suggested we might do another project in PNG soon. Moses will return to talk to us about a proposed project soon.
· Tony D. gauged interest in a possible revegetation project at the site of the soon to be removed Bromfield Street Weir (a.k.a ‘Peter’). Members seemed keen, so more details to come.
· Greg advised us that Abbey Titmus will be with us in two weeks to talk about her experience at the National Youth Science Forum. Brooke Jensen is also looking to organise an evening with all four clubs to allow all the NYSF attendees from Warrnambool to speak.
· Greg is going to Europe for 6-7 weeks and is looking for a house sitter. Talk to Greg if you know someone who might be able to help.
· Bob reported that the Golden Community Raffle tickets are going out to clubs and community groups.
· Bob also reminded members of the Myeloma Walk on Sunday 3/3. Go onto the Myeloma Australia website to register.
· Les spoke about the 3/3 Hospital Auxiliary barbecue. The event will run from 4.00 to 7.00pm. We will need volunteers from before 3.00 until stumps.
· Adam spoke about the Veterans and family camp this weekend and kindly invited members to a free barbecue at the barracks on Saturday night and a free PT session the same morning.
Dedicated Swifty Lindsay then gave us a fines session based on our knowledge of Tay Tay, which mostly resulted in fines to himself. Dillo then followed with a fines session based on our knowledge of music from an earlier era; music that Taylor Swift's parents are too young to remember.
