Excuse the scrappy nature of this week’s Minutes. My pen kept catching on my soft napkin….I’ll start bringing a proper pad to cover the Editor for the Minutes.
President Paul has slipped neatly into the role, being absent for the meeting with illness. They must cover this ploy at the President Elect training weekends. In any event, the increasingly apprehensive President Elect Lindsay stepped up to the plate.
Two Director’s reports, Verto briefed us on a Club Services event, namely a repeat of the successful Bowling/Bojanges for pizzas evening. Pop 17 September in your diaries.
Francis advised of a Community Services project (and this is where the napkin caused problems)……I think we are to construct a shed for “Loved & Shared”, most likely in late August,…but forgive me if I’m off the mark here. No doubt we’ll hear more.
In a Member’s Report Ron McLeod let us know our very first Inbound Exchange student of 36 years ago, Jenny Myers from the USA, will be visiting Warrnambool with her daughter for a few days in early January. They’ll be attending our first meeting in 2027. Ron asked whether anyone might be able to billet them, and I believe Haysie has put his hand up.
Nooka has become strangely efficient in his door report. No chaos…just 20 members. Straight then into the Footy Tipping. Rob Harris on top with 104, Bullant 103 along with T-Bone.
Lew then entertained us with an account of his and Diana’s recent drive up through NSW to Longreach. Most enjoyable recounting, with so many questions from the audience that there was no time for fines. In closing the meeting LB thanked Lew and expressed jealousy for that sort of take it as it comes road trip….he’s President next year, so one expects that’s when he’d head off himself.
Robbo.
