Attendance: Glenn wished Lew a happy birthday before announcing 26 members were in attendance in addition to our guest Maria.
Meal: Crumbed fish with salad and chips. It was no carbonara bake, but still excellent.
Sgt Jon opened the meeting by inviting our President to the podium.
Matt welcomed Maria Clara Rezende to our meeting and to our club. He asked members to think of Maria and include her in any activities.
Matt congratulated Surf, Jon, Kellie and the Fools on Stools for an excellent Trivia Night. He also thanked Tim and Di for the five apparently excellent crayfish. Matt also thanked Lindsay for supporting a grant from the Trigg Foundation to assist with Maria’s student exchange. Our President then thanked those members who assisted with the Relay for Life container recycling collection on the weekend.
Matt congratulated the club on the news that we have qualified for the District Gold Enviro Award. A big thank you to Brendan and Maria, who will be at the District Conference to receive it. Matt advised that the cancelled board meeting will be rescheduled shortly.
Finally, Matt announced that the Changeover Dinner will be held on Friday 20th June 2025, details to be finalised.
Greg then formally welcomed Maria to our club. Matt and Maria exchanged banners on behalf of our two clubs. Maria comes from a rural centre a bit bigger than Warrnambool in Minas Gerais. She lives with her parents and her little sister, a horse, chickens and cats. The horse is a 12-year-old mare named Princess, who may well have a Gatton Hotel Handicap left in her. We will let Maria settle in before inquiring about purchasing 10%.
In reports;
- Boré communicated a request from our friends in Ingin, PNG for help building a hut as a delivery room to assist with midwifery in the area. $15,000 is needed in total, and our partners in this project at the RC of Mount Martha have already contributed $2,500. Moses will come to a meeting and speak about the project soon.
- Boré also passed on greetings from Doug Gardner.
- Gerald spoke about the Neil Porter Legacy careers expo at the Warrnambool Showgrounds next Tuesday. We are looking to supply four volunteers to assist them.
- Surf discussed the Trivia Night success and thanked those responsible.
- Bono noted that the trotter Mattyo had a win last week.
Bim then conducted and excellent fines session based, very appropriately, on trivia questions about the wonderful nation of Brazil.
The barrel was drawn and Trev collected the free meal voucher, which seemed just after Trevor’s contribution to the Trivia Night.
The recent consecration of Bishop Lowrey has
renewed interest in first century Palestinian footwear.
