Minutes.
Attendance: Nooka‘s door report began with his declaration that there was ‘mass confusion up here’. Nooka then cleared up that confusion. If members arrive at the door and have accepted on the Stack app they can pay at the door with Nooka and then they don’t have to pay at the bistro counter. If members arrive at the door and have not accepted in the Stack app, they can pay at the door and don’t have to pay at the bistro counter. They will still get a meal but it might not be the same meal as everyone else. If members arrive late and have accepted in the Stack app, then they can pay at the door and do not need to pay at the bistro counter or they can pay at the bistro counter, in which case they do not need to pay at the door. If members arrive late and have not accepted in the Stack app then they can pay at the door, in which case they do not need to pay at the bistro counter, or they can pay at the bistro counter in which case they do not need to pay at the door and they will get a meal, but it may not be the same meal as everyone else. If members arrive at the door but have prepaid by electronic funds transfer then they do not need to pay at the door and do not need to pay at the bistro counter. If they have paid by electronic funds transfer and arrive late then they will still get a meal, however if they have not accepted on the stack app, whether they arrive on time or arrive late, then they will still get a meal but it might not be the same meal as everyone else.

Bob turned the ignition and we were away and running for another week. In reports;
· Sam has very kindly stepped in as treasurer and reported he was trying to ‘fix up the books’ and also that he has ‘not seen or heard of the footy tipping money’. On this last point he shares something in common with Robbo. Thanks Sam. Sam also asked members to pay their subs, if they haven’t already.
· Bob informed us that the Myeloma Scholarship has been awarded to Sophie Gunning. We congratulate Sophie and wish her every success.
· Robbo was pleased to see Knuckles, Trev and Gerard back at our meeting. It was great to see them and we welcome them back.
· Paul reported that Bomber is doing well, as is his daughter Maddie in her horse racing endevours. We wish them both well.
· Sam is selling some excellent calendars produced by his talented daughter for a very reasonable $20. Talk to Sam to secure your calendar.
· Lew continues to encourage members to get on board the ‘Giving up the Gaspers’ fundraiser. Talk to Lew if you haven’t got on board yet.
· Malcolm reminded members that the RSL is holding its annual red poppy appeal over the next few weeks. Go and see Malcolm in front of IGA to purchase a poppy.
· Matt will be holding a Melbourne Cup sweep. Look out for Matt’s email to take part.
· Macca brought us the all-important Sirileo Miss report. Our equine marvel will run next in the group 2 Matriarch Stakes on Saturday 5th November. I would recommend to Matt that he puts a fortune on Sirileo for the win. Macca also kindly brought in the Ladies Day Vase trophy that Sirileo recently won. If we are being honest, the trophy was a disappointment compared to the trophy she won in the same race last year. However, there are 120,000 reasons for us not be too upset about it.
Lou Butler spoke to us about the Warrnambool District Community Hospice. Some years ago Lou was married with two young children and her husband developed a brain cancer. Lou cared for him at home until the last ten days of his life. Since then Lou has become actively involved in Hospice.
Hospice has seventy active volunteers, who receive good training from Hospice. They help people with terminal illnesses stay at home. They also help people recovering from a bereavement. Hospice also run end of life workshops at the Archie Graham Centre. A similarly themed book ‘Manual for Living and Dying in Style’ is available from Hospice. People seeking the assistance of Hospice can contact the organisation directly; no medical referral is necessary. We thank Lou for both the wonderful work she is doing with Hospice and for taking the time to come and talk to us.
